Why Early Access?

“ECHO//syntax is the product of years of wanting to engage the beat'em up space. So this game is basically me as a designer throwing things at that wall and seeing what's fun and just having fun with the process and sharing it with everyone.

This is a way to get the game out and running as well as get feedback to make it a great title.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're planning for the Early Access of the Initial game to last about one or two years. Then it will be cemented into a milestone build that can be enjoyed for as long as desired. We'll move on to follow ups if we plan to experiment more.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan include some different robots to play as and optional areas along side the critical path as well as different modes that can keep you kicking the scrap out of bots.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the Early Access version is a carved out portion of the Skybreak facility, which is where the entire game takes place. This version includes the Junkyard, Armory, Communications Tower areas as they are the critical path.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will increase after we reach the full campaign release on 1.0, which will contain more content.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're looking for lots of feedback from the community to make this an action packed fun title with plenty of challenge. We're looking for feedback on game feel, class loadouts, encounter engagement and more. We're easy to reach and would love to talk to those that love action games.”

About This Game

ECHO//syntax is a fast-paced 2.5D beat ’em up built around momentum, field control, and replayable combat encounters. Chain together high-speed combos to build up tension then release that tension into energy to launch enemies into brutal juggles, overload hostile systems, and tear machines apart for scrap to repair and upgrade your chassis.

Descend into the massive ruins of the Skybreak Facility — a collapsing industrial megastructure once used by humanity to reach the stars. The world left behind became myth to the machines that remained, and now corrupted constructs, scavenger factions, and colossal Marauders roam its depths.

Customize your combat style with gameplay-altering modules, energy-based abilities, and unique chassis builds. Fight through shifting encounters, dangerous vertical arenas, and escalating machine hunts where aggression fuels survival.

Fast-Paced Belt-Action Combat

Master aggressive momentum-based combat as options can build upon each other and lead to launchers, juggles, and system-breaking attacks. Use basic attacks that lead to powerful Energy Surge attacks that will let you: Control crowds, exploit enemy vulnerabilities, and dominate the battlefield through precision and positioning.

Scrap-Fueled Survival

Wreck the bots to use their parts to immediately restore your Armor Health Blocks. Collect Loot to craft modifiers and change the flow of combat.

Find Your Combat Style

Equip gameplay-altering modules, experiment with chassis configurations, and create builds focused on speed, control, survivability, or overwhelming force.

Distinct Machine Factions

Fight hostile robotic factions with unique behaviors, combat roles, and visual identities, each demanding different strategies to overcome.

Team up with Other Bots

Fight alone or alongside friends in local co-op and Steam Remote Play Together supported sessions. In Solo play, you can even repair bots to accompany you!

About the Project

ECHO//syntax is actively evolving through as a game. We're looking towards Community Feedback to help shape combat balance, enemy behaviors, progression systems, new chassis, modules, encounters, and future content as development continues. As long time fans of arcade action games, we want to explore lots of different types of gameplay and fun. We'll try different experiments with character action gameplay.
