Runback is a roguelite platform party fighter which gives you and your friends three characters to choose from: the sword-wielding Paladin, the knuckle-cracking Brawler, and the crafty Artificer. But the selection doesn’t stop at the character-select screen. Lose a round? No problem. Upgrade your character’s moveset or passive abilities, and jump right back into the battle to show your opponents a whole new challenge. Upgrades range from simple stat-boosts like damage or jump-height and added on-hit effects like slow or burn, all the way to crazy powers like holographic duplicates and blast-zone looping!

• Over 200+ distinct upgrades to purchase and combine between rounds. The possibilities are endless! Mix fast-fall and looping to drop through the bottom blast-zone and launch a sudden surprise attack from above. Send a holographic duplicate with boosted knockback jumping into the void to edgeguard without risking your real self. 

• So many possibilities means that every series of battles plays out in an entirely new way. Make the most of the options you meet between rounds, and see how your choices domino into future fights! 

• 3 starting characters to choose from! Slash into battle with the swashbuckling Paladin, or smash your way in with the burly Brawler. Or take a different approach with the mystical-mechanical Artificer. And, of course, these base characters are only the beginning!

• 2-4 player Online and Local Multiplayer mean that you’ll always have someone(s) to knock around, and over 30+ different maps mean you’ll never run out of places to play!

The real winners in Runback are the ones who mutate and upgrade their builds wisely. Grab the perfect upgrades when they appear, and completely change the game! The difference between rounds is night and day. Every upgrade makes a difference. Acquire powerful new moves like launching your fist as a rocket or gain special traits like grappling effects on your moves that drags your opponents along with you as you strike them. Add powerful hitstun to your attacks! Whip out a fighter-jet! Release a deadly cloud of nanoparticles from your explosive moves! Never let yourself think that you know where things will go! 

IT’S NOT OVER UNTIL IT’S OVER

When a player loses a round, they get double the money to spend on upgrades and build a new strategy to come back swinging! This is your chance to adjust to your friends’ strategies. Are you getting out-ranged? Maybe invest in some upgrades to close the gap more quickly, or to out-range them right back. Is your opponent a killer at edge-guarding? Grab that upgrade to loop the blast-zones, and jump from the right side of the screen all the way around to the left, and back onto the stage before they can catch you!
