Pollution and climate change made food and water scarce.

Travel between ruined settlements, scavenge supplies, buy and sell goods, and recruit people to join you.

About the Development

This remaster was created by a longtime fan with permission from the original developers at Max Design.

Its code was written from scratch while retaining the original game's graphics and sounds.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

The original graphics were upscaled using a combination of traditional non-AI image scaling and Real-ESRGAN-based tools. Some were manually repainted afterward.

For selected graphics, including character faces, OpenAI image-generation tools were used to reconstruct higher-resolution detail based on the original low-resolution artwork. The same tools were also used to extend some backgrounds for widescreen.
I reworked the results by hand to make them fit the original artwork.

Development of this remaster began in 2009; Codex has been used as a coding assistant since version 1.1.
