About This Game

Check-in is in orbit.

Guests book a stay, ride your rocket to orbit, float around your hotel for a few nights, and pay the bill. Getting them there, keeping them breathing and sending them home happy is your job.

Space Hotel Ltd is a 3D tycoon game about running hotels in space, and you own all of it: the spaceport, the rockets and the rooms.

One zoom, pad to planets

Scroll out from a rocket on the pad and keep going: the coastline, the whole globe, the Moon, the solar system. Scroll back in on a hotel and you arrive at its docking port. It is one continuous place, and everything you own is somewhere in it.

  • It is the real solar system at about one-tenth size: real launch sites on Earth, and places to build around the Moon, Mars and the outer planets.
  • Day and night come from where the sun really is. Your hotel crosses into Earth's shadow, its windows glow, and the city lights come up below it.

Every guest gets a countdown

Every booking puts a rocket on the pad: stacked, rolled out and fuelled in front of you. The guests ride a van to the tower and walk across the arm to the capsule. Then comes the countdown, and you can ride along the whole way: ascent, orbit, the slow approach, the dock.

  • Or wave it off and get back to work. The flight carries on without you, and the guests still arrive.
  • Start with a small two-seat rocket and work up to heavy lifters and a spaceplane.

It starts with one module

Your first hotel is a single module riding a rocket into an empty orbit. Add a second and it has a corridor. Add a dozen and it has wings, a docking hub and a gravity ring, and you chose where every one went.

  • Click any hull and it turns to X-ray, so you can look straight into the rooms you just built and see who is using them.
  • On the ground the spaceport grows with it: a second pad, Mission Control, and a hall where your next rocket is taking shape.

More than a room with a view

A bed and a porthole will fill your first hotel. What guests remember, and what they pay more for, is everything else on board. Specialty modules give each hotel its own character.

  • Exercise: gyms where guests train and the crew stay fit through a long posting.
  • Science: labs and observatories, for visiting researchers and for your own discoveries.
  • Entertainment: lounges built around a big window onto the Earth, and places to play.
  • Hospitality: a spa, a proper galley and a greenhouse to wander through, the things guests write home about.

Meet the guests and crew

Open any hull and there they are: little rubber-limbed people with big heads, floating through the rooms you built. They tumble, grab a handrail and sleep in a bag on the wall. Give them a gravity ring and they walk, and on the Moon they bounce. You will come to care about them more than you expect.

  • Backpackers and Tycoons do not want the same hotel. Some guests come for fun, some for luxury, some to train, and every one of them leaves a review.
  • The crew have names and needs of their own: rest, food and company. Look after them and they look after everything else.

Keep them breathing

A hotel in orbit uses up oxygen, water, food and power every day, and none of it arrives unless you send it. Greenhouses and recyclers stretch what you have. Supply rockets cover the rest, and how early you sent the last one decides how calm your week is.

  • Cut it too fine and the hotel goes into distress: the guests evacuate and the money stops until you fix it. Nobody dies, but nobody leaves a good review.
  • Every hotel keeps living while you are away at another one: earning, breathing and running low.

No rush in orbit

Play at your own speed. Pause to plan, fast-forward through a quiet week, or do nothing at all and watch the sun come up over the Pacific from the lounge window.

Next stop, the Moon

It begins with a company, one launch pad and a home site of your choosing, from Florida to Tanegashima. Contracts and satellite launches pay for the next module. Research brings bigger rockets, drawn part by part on a blueprint. When the first hotel is paying its way, there is a higher orbit to try, then the Moon, then Mars, and on out to Saturn.

Check-out is whenever you like. Wishlist Space Hotel Ltd to hear when the demo opens.
