What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Flesh & Bone started life on Quest. This is the PC version, and the port moved things around: the grips, the weight of the weapons, how the swarm reads at PC framerates.

I can keep tuning that against my own hands forever and still be wrong. I would rather put it in front of people who actually enjoy getting mauled in VR, and let what breaks decide what gets fixed first.

This is a one-person project. Early Access is how it gets steered.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Two months max.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to spend Early Access mainly on feel: controls, grips, weapon weight and the balance of the arena, so that the difficulty comes from the swarm and not from fighting the input.

Beyond that I plan to add more enemy variety and more upgrade paths, and to give new players enough onboarding to learn the grips without turning it into a tutorial.

If something on that list gets cut, it gets cut publicly, with the reason.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable start to finish, and genuinely hard.

In right now: one arena, from the first wave through to the Mother of Swarm. Both hands work — Flesh for melee weapons and turrets, Bone for necromancy and hijacking enemies — separately or together. Gems, crystal upgrades and permanent unlocks are in. Movement lets you leap over the fight instead of backing away from it.

Not finished: the controls came over from the Quest version and still need refinement. There is no tutorial, comfort options are thin, and the balance is not what I would call settled.

VR only. It needs a Meta Quest headset connected to a Windows PC over Quest Link or Air Link. There is no flat-screen mode. If you do not have that setup, do not buy it.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to raise the price slightly when the game leaves Early Access. Buying during Early Access is the cheapest it will be, and you keep the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The Steam discussions board, and I read it myself.

What helps most: where you died, what felt cheap, which weapon you stopped using and why, and anything that made you take the headset off. Control and balance changes will say what feedback caused them, so you can tell whether reporting things was worth your time.

Feature requests get a straight answer — yes, no, or not soon — instead of silence.”
