Progress tied to Steam Achievements and the player's curiosity drive to progress.

Random Mode: Randomized Permadeath Gameplay Mode
Linear Story Mode: Linear order story progression 
Quick Time Mode: Linear Quick-Time-On-rails Mode with Save State
Marathon Mode: Linear Quick-Time-On-rails Mode with permadeath
Puzzle Mode: Search puzzle marathon mode
