Miksi Early Access?

Community means everything! Everything about Gumbo benefits from continuous feedback from the community. Singleplayer adventure and multiplayer modes / mini games needs consistent feedback and playtesting to make it perfect, from balancing gameplay to the storytelling of adventure, from multiplayer networking to cozy casual approach. During Early Access I plan to lay groundwork for full controller support with Steam Deck support and make Gumbo multi-platform with Mac support and test these with community as well as other features.

Miten kauan peli tulee arviolta olemaan Early Access -vaiheessa?

Core game is almost completed in terms of technical aspects, so expecting to deliver updates and patches quickly and estimating that 6-12 months range would be enough for me to make the game feature complete as intended.

Millä tavoin lopullinen versio tulee eroamaan Early Access -versiosta?

I expect the full version of Gumbo to feature a more polished and complete set of features and content in comparison to the Early Access version, along with Steam Achievements and the true ending to the main story. I plan to add full controller support as well as multi-platform support with Steam Deck and Mac.

During Early Access, I plan to release major updates with new features and content, followed soon after by patches to shore up any issues.

Mikä on Early Access -version tila tällä hetkellä?

Current state of the Early Access version contains a singleplayer adventure mode, and a multiplayer mini game mode played online. Core game is almost completed in terms of technical aspects, so expecting to deliver updates and patches quickly.

Depending on how long Early Access lasts and the amount of additional content I add to the game over time, I plan to increase the price in the future.

I plan to closely read and respond to feedbacks from our player community as I keep developing and refining every part of Gumbo.

You can share your thoughts and suggestions on our official Discord server or in Steam discussions. I do my best to keep up with all public discussions. I plan to make many changes and improvements based on your feedback, and you’ll see these reflected in our patch notes.

Gumbo is a sci-fi survival adventure that redefines voxel exploration, where every block is a living, breathing alien creature with personality and purpose. Explore procedurally generated worlds as you uncover the mystery behind the dark forces threatening the Gumbo civilization.

MEET THE GUMBOS!

Gumbos are cute, small, rounded, jelly, gooey, blobby living voxel creature species! 

Build and upgrade together with adorable alien blobs, each with unique traits and abilities that aid your quest.

SCIENTIST’S TOOLKIT

As an exploration scientist, with your sampling gun you can collect and then shoot to utilize Gumbos: either to deploy and use them as resources, or to combat threats. Unlock upgrades one step at a time to defy the darkness.

CHALLENGING OR COZY

We plan to feature 2 modes for singleplayer experience:

  • Adventure: classic mode with enemies, combat and other challenges

  • Casual: Cozy mode with no-enemies just the non-pressure challenges

FUN WITH FRIENDS

Gumbo is designed and developed to support multiplayer from the ground up. I plan to deliver Co-Op for singleplayer. Also planning to support main game with PvP and Co-Op multiplayer modes. Multiplayer modes and what they will look like is work-in-progress right now, follow and join community for feedback updates.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Gumbo is developed by a single indie developer right now. I plan for these key features right now for early access and then launch afterwards:

  • Living Voxel World - Every block is a living Gumbo creature with unique personality and abilities

  • Sampling Gun - Collect, store, and deploy Gumbos as resources for upgrades or combat situations

  • Procedural Galaxy Exploration - Discover huge worlds filled with secrets and mysteries

  • Progressive Upgrades - Unlock new abilities and equipment to expand your capabilities using Gumbos as resources

  • Dual Game Modes - Choose between challenging Adventure mode or relaxing Casual mode without enemies

  • Multiplayer Ready - Built from ground up to support future Co-op campaign and future PvP/Co-op modes

  • Immersive Sci-Fi Narrative - Uncover the truth behind the dark forces threatening Gumbo civilization
