What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“While the core gameplay and systems of Steel Swarm: Apocalypse are already functional, Early Access gives us the opportunity to shape the game's future with direct input from players. It allows us to balance XBTs and abilities based on real match data, fine-tune map pacing, combat flow, and team roles, and build and test key systems like Ranked Mode, Battle Pass, and seasonal structures. It also helps us prioritize the features players care about most whether that’s new skins, controller support, or entirely new game modes. Our demo phase has been successfully completed, and we plan to fully launch the game once we reach a total of 20 playable XBTs.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect to stay in Early Access for approximately 12 to 18 months. This timeframe may shift depending on the feedback we receive, the pace of content development, and the balance adjustments needed. Our goal is to ensure that the core gameplay, ranked systems, and all planned features are fully polished before the full launch.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to significantly expand the scope of the game.
- 12 upcoming new XBTs
- Competitive Mode and Ranked System
- Skins and Skin Boxes
- In-game Store
- Launcher Assistant
- Battle Pass system
- Full Gamepad Support
- Steam Deck and Linux Support
- In-game Ping System

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is fully playable, with all core gameplay systems active and functional. Players can choose from over 8 unique XBTs and engage in PvP matches. Casual match mode, training zones, missions, and in-game rewards are already implemented. Full gamepad support, Steam Deck compatibility, and various technical optimizations are also included in this version. However, some systems are still under development, and the content pool is not yet at the scale planned for the full release. You can enjoy the game as it stands and actively contribute to its development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Steel Swarm: Apocalypse will be completely free to play during Early Access and after full release. Our monetization model is based solely on optional cosmetic items and DLCs. We will never sell competitive advantages (no pay to win) all gameplay-related content will remain fully accessible for free.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“During our demo phase, we actively used our Discord server, Steam forums, and social media channels to collect feedback from hundreds of players and that input directly shaped game balance, mechanics, and UX improvements. We plan to continue this approach throughout Early Access with regular surveys, playtests, and community-driven patch notes.”

Move Swiftly, Strike Vigorously

You command a mighty Xalium Battle Tank (XBT) with WASD controls. Click to move is possible too, but swift positioning is vital because XBTs take more damage from the sides and even more from the back. That makes positioning key to landing your shots.

In fact, you must aim well with every shot, because every shot is a skill shot!

Battlefield of Swarms

With 100+ minions per team, per avenue, per minute, the battlefield is teeming with thousands. Whether you are obliterating minions in clusters, swarming heroes, or overwhelming turrets, once you adapt to this new scale of war, no other MOBA will compare.

Mission Dictates the Plan

Danger and riches abound in the streets of Rotnor. The city is divided into two halves, each with four neighborhoods inhabited by neutral factions: police, military, pirates, and Xorm. Decide who to ally with, undertake missions for them, and secure vital upgrades that can shift the balance of power. Once you’re strong enough, rally your team to challenge mighty Mantis, the rogue XBT, for a reward that could change the outcome.

Tactical Commander

Select the battle tank and pilot that align with your team role from an ever-growing pool of options. Every five levels, enhance your skills with modifications. Acquire upgrades and gears to tailor your tank to your distinctive playing style.

Every Obstacle is a Road

You have the power to destroy anything in your path. Create new routes between lanes through the jungle, ambush enemies from behind, or surprise them with backdoor attacks just when they think they’ve won.

Stop the APOCALYPSE

Gear up, Commander! The swarm is relentless, the city is yours to reshape, and victory demands TRUE SKILL. Assemble your team, strategize your build, and carve your path through the chaos to stop the Apocalypse!
