What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Similar to the previous entry during and after its graduation from Early Access, the second arc will also go to a chapter-by-chapter release while the community's feedback enhances the overall experience. As a solo developer and similar to the first arc, I will rely heavily on both veterans' and newcomers' feedback because it has proven to play a crucial role in shaping the game itself.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

The Alder Forge 2 final chapter 'Ozymandias' alongside the epilogue might be delivered at the maximum two years after the launch of Early Access Phase 1 which will include both prologue ' The Silver Maiden' and chapter 1 ' Magna Lumen.'

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The intended direction for the game's development during early access through to launch is anticipated to follow a similar path to the previous entry, with phase transitions potentially unfolding as follows:

-Prologue: The Silver Maiden (Phase 1)
-Chapter 1: Magna Lumen (Phase 1)
-Chapter 2: Le Théatre Macabre (Phase 2)
-Chapter 3: Prince Of Chaos (Phase 3)
-Chapter 4: Ozymandias (Phase 4)
-Epilogue: The Oculi (Phase 4)

Additional features, side content, and mechanics may be considered for inclusion based on the Alder Forge community's feedback regarding Phase 1, similar to the optional events featured in the previous entry.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game features an adaptive turnbased combat enhanced with boosts, skills' fusion, and follow-ups. In addition and during exploration the same combat system can be upgraded thanks to the reputation system 'Gaia's Blessings' alongside the 'Battle Heat'. Players can explore, fight, and hunt for fragments to aqcuire skills and weapons, or levelup and progress through the story in both optional and primary points. (More details are listed in the about section)”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Similar to the previous entry, the Alder Forge pricing will gradually be raised a month before rolling out a new phase until the phase 4. You pay for the content you get at the time, so if the unexpected happens, there would be no losses to you. The Alder Forge 2 community will be warned a month before a new chapter and phase are rolled out which means the price is going to be raised as well.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Similar to the previous entry, the community will be involved primarily through the Game’s Steam Community Hub. Players can provide feedback, share ideas, and participate in discussions directly on the Hub. I'll regularly review posts, respond to questions, and use community feedback to guide development decisions. Additionally, I'll share progress updates, patch notes, and announcements there to keep everyone informed and involved. (Please view the News Section in the previous entry's community hub to see examples.)”

The year is 947 AGC, two years after the Orvysian invasion of Royne and the final battle between the Fourth Squadron and the Equilibrium which its aftermath has forced the Magna Lumen to emerge from the shadows in a world-scale violent conflict with all the branches of the High Council, the same conflict will be amplified by the destined clash between the 9 remaining Knights of the Alder Forge and their respective Guardians.

Meanwhile, in a society where commoners can rise high thanks to their skills and hard work, the noble traditionalists are using the larger conflict between the Magna Lumen and the High Council to make their violent and wicked last stand while other shadowy organizations are using the chaos to further their hold on the politics and economics of this world.
