Why Early Access?

“We’re a two-person indie team building On The Train entirely on our own.

Early Access lets us spend more time on development, and its support will help us bring new people onto the team to make On The Train even better. We’ll keep working on the game no matter what, but a bigger team means faster and bigger updates.

Early Access also lets us hear from our community and improve both current and upcoming features of On The Train, together.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect On The Train to remain in Early Access for around 1 to 2 years. We don’t plan to stay there any longer than needed.

That time is planned for expanding content, improving systems, refining balance, and responding to player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of On The Train is planned to be a much bigger and deeper experience. We plan to add new regions to explore, along with new zombie types and tougher threats along the way.

We also plan to add more weapons, attachments, items and crafting stations, and to deepen progression with better difficulty scaling. Throughout Early Access, we’ll keep improving balance, performance and co-op.

Most importantly, we plan to shape future additions around community feedback, so the full version reflects how players actually enjoy the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of On The Train is fully playable, in co-op or solo. You can drive your steam train, choose your route and explore different regions along the way.

You can expand your train with new wagons, build and decorate it freely, and set up crafting stations, storage, farming, cooking and steam-powered production. Gather resources, mine, smelt, and craft a wide range of tools, melee weapons and firearms.

Defend your train against several zombie types with turrets and traps, and survive the day and night cycle for as long as you can.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to increase the price of On The Train when it leaves Early Access and reaches full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We constantly listen to feedback from every source: Steam reviews and discussions, our Discord server, YouTube comments and the in-game feedback reporter. Even when we can’t reply to everyone, we read every message and take it into account while working on the game.

Since the demo, many changes in On The Train have come directly from player feedback, and we’ll keep it that way throughout Early Access and beyond.”
