Why Early Access?

“I've found it really helpful sharing early clips of the game's development. I would like to open up the game whilst it's still in development, in order to give players the chance to experience Sunken Veins and provide feedback/suggestions before the game fully launches.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect early access development of Sunken Veins to continue during 2025. I don't have a specific date for when the game will launch, but my personal goal is to complete the game in the first half of 2025.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I expect the full version of Sunken Veins to contain two enemy AI monsters the player can face, a more fleshed out world with plenty of lore, more polished features, steam achievements, two polished maps, an in-game "base" that allows you to customise and set up the next level you play, and a variety of different characters/modifiers that let you play the protagonist in different ways.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Sunken Veins currently has a core gameplay loop that is very playable. You can enter the coal mine, gather resources, fix floods and avoid an adapative AI enemy that will gain new abilities based on how you play.

I'm confident that the game is enjoyable in this stage, but it isn't complete, and final art, animation and sound assets are yet to come. You may encounter unpolished assets that I plan to improve before the game launches fully”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Depending on the duration of early access and the complexity of the additional content added to the game, I may raise the retail price once the game launches in full.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I will be actively monitoring feedback from players as I develop the game. This game is for you and I care deeply about making the experience as enjoyable as possible. Seeing players play the game and discuss their experiences will help me steer development into a direction inspired by player feedback.”

About This Game

Sunken Veins is an intense resource management horror game set on an underwater mining facility. After your escape pod failed to launch during an emergency evacuation, you were left stranded at the bottom of the ocean.

You must manage your resources in order to survive long enough to send a distress signal, whilst avoiding an intelligent AI-driven creature and overwhelming floods of water.

INTENSE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

  • Keep the furnace powered to operate an underwater drill, which provides you with valuable coal and other resources. Without coal, you cannot power the facility.

  • Repair leaks to prevent water from slowing down your progress. As water floods the facility, it disrupts electronics and increases the time to send the distress signal.

  • Balance mining and repairing. Mining creates stress, and stress creates leaks. How will you manage your time to prevent a total collapse?

ADAPTIVE AI CREATURE

  • Stay out of sight of an adaptive AI creature that reacts to your actions and chooses new strategies based on how you play.

  • Adapt to the creature as it adapts to you - It learns new strategies based on the way you behave.

TOOLS AND UPGRADES

  • Resources you gather can be used to craft tools to help keep floods away.

  • Components allow you to upgrade doors, drains, vacuum bots and many other things. Upgrade and adapt based on how you want to survive.

DYNAMIC ENVIRONMENT

  • Wade through dynamic physics driven water that interacts with the environment and the player. Floods spread into the facility and create new challenges and opportunites.

  • Manage light systems to illuminate the facility, or disable them to cover yourself in darkness. Staying in the dark keeps you hidden from danger... but also makes it harder to see.

  • Close doors to block off floods and other dangers, or keep them open to allow water to flow freely.

GAMEPLAY MODIFIERS

  • Unlock new gameplay modifiers as you play.

  • Modifiers present new ways to aid, or hinder your escape.

TWITCH CHAT INTEGRATION

  • Create custom commands that viewers can use to interact with the environment as you play.

  • Allow viewers to open doors, control lights, add stress, start floods and many more actions.

  • Set cooldowns for effects to control how much influence chat has.
