Why Early Access?

“We decided to release the game in early access to get players thoughts and feelings about the game as well to get ideas for potential features as we take the time needed to develop our larger more extensive. We hope to release content updates every few months until the game is fully complete and ready for a 1.0 release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“There isn't a set deadline for a 1.0 release, our plan is to gradually build up our core features and polish as much as possible until we feel it is ready for a 1.0 release. We hope to have alpha ready within the next year, and beta ready within the next 2-3 years and a full release in 4-6 years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“When we release our 1.0 version (R.1.0) we plan to have 2 core modes such as:

Story Mode
An engaging and rewarding campaign telling a unique story using the games core mechanics.

Sandbox Mode
The core survival mode with the ability to use custom maps, mods, modulators, and play on servers with friends.

We are also planning to add a 3rd mode in the future, we will elaborate more on that when the core game is complete and we are ready to create additional content.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

In version A.1.0 we have included a decent amount of the games core features such as, building, crafting, farming, technology upgrades, group teaming systems, and much more. There is the caveat that these features are subject to change during development and we plan to improved on A.1.0's version of these features.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The games current price is a baseline price based off of what we believe is worth the amount of content in Alpha 1 ( version A.1.0). We are planning to increase the price 2 times during development.

1. We will be raising the cost of the game to 1/2 of the 1.0 release price when we enter beta (version B.1.0)

2. We will raise the price one final time to our 1.0 (version R.1.0) price which it will stay at forever (except for sales of course haha)”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have decided to release into early access at such an early stage of development to get the communities feed back via twitter, their bug reports, or suggestions on other channels to improve the quality, give them a more streamlined story, and make every feature feel flushed out and polished.”

About This Game

Overview
Bluestone Islands is a survival game with 2 core modes, story and sandbox. In sandbox play with modulators, mods, and or friends on servers or local multiplayer. If that doesn't interest you tackle the campaign in story mode to save your friends and company from a frosty fate.

Gameplay Overview
Our main gameplay experience is survival; craft, hunt, explore, mine, or forage for the resources you need to survive in sandbox or complete your mission in story mode. Make sure to manage your health, hunger, thirst, sleep, and body temperature as you explore the 30+ islands on the archipelago which vary from lava filled deserts, to jungles, to a completely frozen over island. Luckily technology is in abundance some left behind, most of it new. You will have access to lots of unique tools to automate, enhance or, unlock new aspects of the game.

Story Mode
Story mode will be a single player story campaign with you playing the main character, Alex Ramph. You and your girlfriends company Vernix is at threat of being shut down by a global government, travel back to the now abandoned islands with the help of your best friends 8 years after a terrible incident caused a full evacuation. Story Mode is planned to release in version B.1.0


Sandbox Mode
Sandbox mode is a free for all experience where you can modify your game with mods, or built into the game modulators. Modulators are things you can purchase from the in game store (NO MICROTRANACTIONS) to change aspects of your sandbox world such as, allowing flight, creative mode, infinite night, day or resources, or making the game more challenging by disabling respawning. Mods are a very large part of gaming culture and we plan to support mods and mod developers by having modding support as early as version B.5.0.

Multiplayer / Servers
Players can connect to other players sandbox worlds as easily as sending an invite with a cap of 12 players, but if you crave something more populated you might enjoy checking out some of the player hosted servers.

Versions / Release
We are planning on having 3 release phases: Alpha, Beta, and Release. Each version number has a letter suffix describing the phase, and a number version.
Alpha (A.1.0)
Beta (B.1.0)
Release (R.1.0)

In the story mode characters often use strong swears / curses, as well as the game contains basic survival mechanics such as mostly gore free hunting and fighting.
