Why Early Access?

“Play Chapter 1 for free in early access! Subsequent chapters will be paid, but we want to share this super duper cool and interesting game now, so be prepared for bugs, which we will definitely fix. Please share them on the Steam Community page.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will be in early access until we release all 4 chapters. Throughout the time the game is in early access, we will slightly edit the current content based on player requests if it's glitchy and not satisfying enough! And we anticipate that the full game will be available around Q3 2026.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We can assure that in general, the game looks already good enough, so the differences are planned to be minimal.
In the full version of the game we plan to take into account all important wishes of the players, as well as to provide instant access to all chapters. You can play Chapter 1 already now, and the continuation of the exciting adventure will have to wait a bit.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At the moment, the game has implemented all the features mentioned in the "About this game" section under Chapter 1. In the full version of the game, we plan to make all chapters available at once.
The game's performance and general operability shows very well, but you may still come across some bugs that generally do not interfere with the full playthrough, but may cause discomfort. Keep this in mind and report bugs in the Steam Community!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Here's what's important to know about pricing The Nick:
  • Chapter 1 will remain free forever and will be available as a demo when the full version is released;
  • Subsequent chapters will be paid content;
  • Players pay to access paid content once, and will then receive free updates as new chapters are released;
  • We don't have exact plans, however we will be happy to reward players who purchased the game before release! Changing the price may be considered as an option to thank them.

About This Game

Are you in this mansion all… not alone?

Welcome to a big, creepy, abandoned mansion! Lights are off. The music is ominous.
There’s probably a ghost tutorial waiting for you somewhere around the corner.

The Nick is a meta-horror game where you play as Nick, a boy trapped in a huge mansion in the middle of a forest Explore the halls, read strange notes, meet suspicious residents, survive boss fights —
and, ideally, don’t die.

Sounds familiar? Good. It’s important that you feel comfortable at first.

Features

  • No weapons. At all. You can’t fight the way you want to. Instead, you’ll have to react, think, dodge, solve puzzles mid-panic - or just run and hope it works out.

  • A story told the wrong way. Letters, dialogues, textures, rooms, bosses... everything quietly says more than it should.

  • A diverse world. Different floors. Different moods. Different rules. Not all locations look the same - and that’s intentional.

  • Strange friends and unfriendly friends. Some characters feel oddly comforting. Some don’t. Some might not be characters at all?..

  • A narrative that breaks its own principles.The Nick occasionally ignores what a “game” is allowed to do. Whatever, you’ll understand later.

  • Visual & Sound. Hand-drawn pixel art with a modern lighting and effects that shouldn’t work this well (but do). An original soundtrack that shifts from cozy to unsettling without warning. And sound design that knows when to stay quiet.

  • Performance modes and compatibility. But don't expect to be able to install the game on your grandmother's PC with Windows XP and 0.5 RAM just because of the pixelated graphics!

  • Chapter 1 is completely free. Get a taste of the immersive game thanks to free access! Try the immersion in the rest of the chapters too... not for free.

It's getting darker...

Don't submit to the cute pixel wrapper! This game may not be at all what it claims to be. Well, I mean, we don't know anything, but... be vigilant.

IMPORTANT: This game may occasionally behave in unexpected ways and play with your expectations. It will not harm your device, your files, or you. At least… we think so.
