About This Game

Steel finds its kin on the battlefield.

Kindred Steel is a real-time tactical strategy game set in the war-torn provinces of Sengoku Japan, where samurai and ninja clash for survival, honor, and control. This is not a game of faceless armies. It is a game of skirmishes, where every warrior you command carries weight, and every decision echoes across the battlefield.

No base building. No endless resource clicking. Just you, your warband, and the terrain between you and the enemy.

Skirmish warfare, not mass slaughter
Command up to hundreds of warriors in tight, readable battles. Kindred Steel is built around the scale where tactics actually matter: the flanking move you time perfectly, the ambush you spring from the treeline, the ridge you hold against the odds. Small enough to feel every loss, deep enough to reward mastery.

A deep tactical toolkit
Each unit type brings its own skills, special abilities, and battlefield role. Move through cover unseen with your ninja. Break an enemy line with a disciplined samurai charge. Use terrain, stealth, positioning, and timing to turn the tide against a stronger foe. Numbers are never the whole story.

Morale is everything
Your warriors are not chess pieces. They feel confidence, fear, and panic. Flank an enemy, cut down their commander, or catch them in the open, and watch their resolve break into a full rout. Hold your own line under pressure and your veterans will become legends.

A living battlefield
Fight across detailed environments shaped by season, weather, and time of day. Villages at dusk, misty forests, riverbanks, and mountain passes. Terrain and visibility change how every engagement unfolds, and a smart commander reads the land as carefully as the enemy.

Warriors who grow
Keep your units alive across battles and they gain experience, becoming a hardened core of veterans capable of changing the course of a campaign. Every fight has consequences that carry forward.

The first chapter of a larger saga
Kindred Steel begins in Sengoku Japan, but the story of steel is not bound to one era. This is the first installment of a series that will carry its tactical heart across different times and conflicts.

Built from the ground up in 3D on Unity 6.
