Why Early Access?

“The game is fully functional and includes its core mechanics and online multiplayer. However, it has not yet reached the level of polish and content envisioned for the full release. Early Access gives us the opportunity to refine key features, enhance the overall user experience, and grow the player base, which is crucial for a competitive online strategy game. As a passion project created by fans for fans, we are committed to involving the community in shaping the final version of the game.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The development of the game has been primarily carried out by a single person in their spare time, without any financial backing or external support. As such, the pace of development depends entirely on the resources and time available. We expect the game to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 to 18 months, during which we’ll continue adding features and refining the experience. However, we’ll stay in Early Access as long as necessary to ensure a complete and polished final version.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version focuses on delivering the core gameplay experience with the most essential game modes. For the full release, our main goal is to enhance the UI/UX to create a more polished and intuitive gaming experience.

We're exploring potential new features, such as AI opponents (to play solo or fill in for disconnected players), an interactive tutorial to help new players get started, expanded game modes with support for up to 8 players, ranking tournament system and localization to welcome and include a more international community.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current game is fully playable, featuring:
  • Online multiplayer up to 4 player with several optional extended rulesets
  • Guilds extension to increase replayability and asymmetric game play options
  • 2 out of 4 Solo opponent using the board game automata system
  • A functional backend, including matchmaking, leaderboards, and a Discord-integrated support system.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to adopt a minimalist free-to-play model supported by a main paid DLC that unlocks the full game experience.

This is the digital adaptation of a board game, and like any physical board game, when you own it, you can invite your friends to play with you—without asking them to buy their own copy. We want to reflect that spirit in our business model.

In the free tier, players will have access to the core 1v1 online multiplayer mode and a basic training mode. Free players will also be able to join multiplayer sessions hosted by DLC owners, helping to grow the community and keep matchmaking active.

The paid DLC will unlock additional game modes and content, offering a richer and more varied experience. This approach is essential to building the player base and ensuring the long-term viability of online play.

We plan to introduce the DLC during Early Access once the game has matured and the community is more established. The final release may bring adjustments in pricing, but our goal is to keep it accessible while maintaining a sustainable and thriving ecosystem.”

About This Game

Rise & Fall is a full control strategic game. Each player controls a civilization trying to expand and progress in a fantasy world. This world displays a unique landscape where glaciers live on islands and huge cliffs are common barriers and challenges to overcome.

In this gorgeous land each player starts with a small tribe including a village, a citizen and a ship and will grow to a full civilization with more of the pre-mentioned units but also temples, merchants and the precious highlanders, the only ones able to pass those astonishing cliffs.

Rise & Fall is a very immersive and addictive game, easy to understand, with no luck or randomness involved. The initial creation of the world by itself is a real pleasure and each game brings a different map to the table.

The new players will enjoy the game for its “easy access” aspect. Since all the actions you can do are displayed on the six cards of a player’s deck, this makes the game really accessible right from the start.

The more exigent strategist players will love the game for its full control aspect and the fact that the learning curve seems to be a constant line of progression.
