Why Early Access?

“Witching Well is an ambitious project—an open world filled with magic, exploration, and stories. Developing something on this scale as a solo developer is a big undertaking, and Early Access provides a way to make it possible. By releasing the game early, I’m able to share it with players who want to support its growth, both through feedback and by helping fund its continued development.

In addition, early Access allows me to build the game with community feedback, responding to player experiences, preferences, and ideas while expanding the world and adding new content.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I’m hoping for no more than a year and a half to two years in Early Access. The timeline unfortunately depends on the level of support the game receives. The more players engage with and support the game, the faster I can keep expanding and refining Witching Well into the experience it’s meant to be.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of the game will include:

- Customizable Characters
- Additional systems like Familiars
- A larger map with unique locations
- More NPCs, stories, and unique character experiences
- More spells
- More building options

And many other activities and features awaiting discovery”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Witching Well is currently in its Alpha stage.

The game has all of its staple systems, such as magic, building, a dynamic open world, and NPCs. Currently I'm expanding systems and adding more content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the change will be gradual.

Witching Well will enter Early Access at a low price point, which will gradually increase as more content is added and the game gets closer to full release.

Once the game hits full release, new content will continue to be added but the price will no longer go up.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'm only one person. A flawed, opinionated person. Sometimes I'm too close to the game to see what makes certain parts of it special and fun. Witching Well needs to belong more to the community than it does to me. With a community to help shape it, I believe Witching Well can become an exceptional game.”
