Why Early Access?

“Touhou Danmaku Maze is a difficult game that contains game genres and unique patterns and gimmicks that are not normally seen in arcade games. This makes it extremely hard for the team to determine the best course of action for the experience of the players. We plan on using early access as a way to allow players to get a first look at these patterns and suggest changes that will allow more players to enjoy this game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for this game will be early access until the core game is complete. We are estimating that the game may be complete around early 2025 but this may change based on community feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the core game, We plan for to include, but not limited to, the following:
1> 6 Levels/Bosses
2> Visual Novel Cutscenes from the start of the game to the end
3> 4 Difficulites per level (Easy, normal, hard, lunatic)
4> All UI menus to be complete
5> Japanese language added

This list may change based on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“This early access version of the game contains our 4th overhaul of the engine and we feel confident in the style and gameplay. This may change on community feedback but for the time being, we are moving forward with this game engine.
Refer to the "About This" section for more details.

Our plan is that the public version of the Early Access game will contain the first level Daiyousei playable from Main Menu to a End Level Result Screen.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The base game will not change price when we leave Early Access. If there is a plan for DLC in the future, we would price that accordingly but keep the base game the same.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As stated before, Touhou Danmaku Maze can be considered as a difficult game that can contain game genres, unique patterns, and gimmicks that are not normally seen in arcade games. During the early access period, we may be relying on community feedback through our Discord to determine the best action to take place for the game. Our discord may have questions or polls for our players to inquire about this.”

About This Game

Developed by Ice Fall Creative, Touhou meets Maze Play in this Hand-Drawn Comedy Arcade game featuring the strongest fairy in Gensokyo!

- Story -
Based on the Touhou Project series, Our bright entrepreneur Cirno and her best friend Daiyousei are set off to start their newest business venture selling snow cones to the residents of Gensokyo. Unfortunately, things don't work out as planned and you'll have to deal with the chaos that ensues!

- Gameplay -
Touhou Danmaku Maze is a "Maze Play" game with a different twist. Unlike most games where hazards attack you within the maze, this game thinks "outside the maze" in a unique Bullet Hell styled gameplay.

This game focuses heavily on danmaku gameplay with a speedrun routing mechanic. We hope players will explore all the variations of routing to get the best time possible!

- Features -
+ Each level contains 4 difficulites from Easy, Normal, Hard, and Lunatic

+ At launch, we plan to release 3 out of the 6 levels each containing a boss. Just like a Touhou game, we plan to create the same scope of gameplay similar in gameplay length.

+ Each level contains multiple songs based on the phase of the boss.

+ There are also Visual Novel styled cutscenes before and after each level.
