What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Alembix is a card game built on real chemistry, a clear resource system, and a fusion mechanic we want to get right. Early Access lets us tune balance, expand content, and refine the experience with players in the room rather than guess in private. The Quintessence-and-primes economy, the Athanor's five-fusion selection, and the nine-tribe identity each invite the kind of pressure-testing only a real player base can provide. By launching in Early Access we can shape the meta together with our community, fix what genuinely needs fixing, and protect what is already working.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate roughly one year in Early Access. That said, we will not rush a 1.0 release just to meet a date. If feedback and balance work justify staying longer, we will, and we will tell the community as soon as we know. Our commitment is to quality of release, not speed of release. We will keep an updated roadmap visible during the whole Early Access period.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will build directly on what ships in Early Access. We currently plan to:

  • Expand the Coagula set with new fusion recipes, including non-oxidation reactions.
  • Add seasonal events and rotating limited mini-sets to keep the meta moving.
  • Introduce social features and a trading system, both designed safely (account-bound, server-side, no cash-out, no off-platform markets).
  • Polish the UI, animations, sound and tutorial flow based on real player feedback.
  • Tune balance across the full card set with the help of community playtesting.

We cannot promise specific cards or modes by name this far out, because what we add will be guided by what the community actually plays and asks for. What we can promise is that the foundation released in Early Access will not be torn up, and the full version will be the same game, broadened and refined.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build contains the full launch card set: 120 element creatures across 9 alchemical tribes, 22 Coagula fusion recipes, and 26 event cards. The Quintessence resource system, the three alchemical primes, the Athanor fusion zone, evasion, and the deck-building and crafting economy are all in. Ranked and unranked PvP and a solo mode against the Athanor AI are available from day one. Steam Achievements and stats are integrated. The four pack tiers (Verdant, Azure, Crimson, Gilded) and the Stardust crafting economy are live, with disclosed odds, pity timers, and duplicate protection.

Trading is intentionally not yet enabled, and is account-bound when it arrives. The game is fully playable, with a scripted tutorial that takes a new player from first card to first fusion in one sitting.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. Alembix is free-to-play during Early Access and will remain free-to-play after full release. In-app purchases accelerate the breadth of a player's collection; they do not lock cards behind a paywall. Every card in the game is craftable using Stardust earned from play.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community shapes Alembix. Concretely:

  • Regular feedback loops via the Steam forums, our Discord, and in-game feedback tools.
  • A visible roadmap, kept current, so players can see what is being worked on and what is next.
  • Balance changes published with explanations, not just patch notes.
  • Polls and surveys on contentious tuning decisions and on which seasonal themes to prioritise.
  • Community playtests for upcoming cards and features before they go live.
  • Open communication about what is going well, what is not, and what we have changed our minds about.

We would rather hear that something is wrong early than read it in a review later. Talk to us; we are listening.”

About This Game

Brew the periodic table into a card game.

Alembix is a free-to-play collectible card game where every creature is an element, every spell a reaction, and every fusion a real chemical recipe. Recruit the noble metals and the volatile gases, transmute them in your Athanor, and out-think your opponent in fast, decisive duels built on a periodic-table you didn't know was a battlefield.

No grinding for resources. No paywalled cards. Every card in the game is craftable.

What makes Alembix different

  • 120 creatures, one for every element. From the alkali firestarters to the radiant rare earths, each tribe plays to its real-world character. Salia burn fast. Terrae hold the line. Aetheria slip every attack.

  • Fusion that actually means something. Bring iron and oxygen onto the field and forge them into Crocus — rust given form. 22 initial  fusion recipes, each a genuine reaction. Your component creatures are consumed in the transmutation; choose your moment.

  • The Athanor. Five fusions, chosen before the match. Your secret weapon, hidden until you draw it from the furnace.

  • A clean resource system you'll learn in a minute. Quintessence ramps each turn like mana you already know. Three alchemical primes — Salt, Sulphur, Mercury — come from the creatures you play, never from a card you didn't draw. No mana screw. No missing colours. Just the choices that matter.

  • Easy to learn, deep to master. The opening tutorial gets you into a real duel in under ten minutes. The meta will take longer.

How it plays

Each turn you gain a little more Quintessence and choose how to spend it: drop an element creature onto the field, play an event to bend the rules, or perform a fusion if you've set the stage. Your creatures emit primes while they live, unlocking your bigger plays. Your opponent does the same. Turns are quick. Decisions aren't.

The Athanor sits beside the board the whole match: five Coagula you chose before the duel began, waiting for the right components to land on your side. Bring them out at the right moment and you can swing a game. Bring them out too soon and you've spent your engine.

Built fair from the ground up

Alembix is free-to-play and built to stay that way honestly.

  • Every card is craftable. Dismantle duplicates into Stardust, craft the card you want. No card is paywalled, but crafting is driven by random generation.

  • Disclosed odds. Every booster pack shows its drop rates, pity timers, and duplicate protection before you buy or open it.

  • No pay-to-win. Spending accelerates collection breadth, not card power. The best cards are reachable for everyone.

  • No blockchain. No NFTs. No off-platform trading. Your cards live on your account, full stop.

  • Account-bound, server-side, undo-protected. Mistakes are recoverable. Trades, when they arrive in a future update, will be safe by default.

Features at launch

  • 120 element creatures across 9 alchemical tribes

  • 22 Coagula fusion recipes built on real chemistry

  • 26 event cards — operations and reactions, the alchemist's tricks

  • Ranked and unranked PvP duels

  • Solo play against the Athanor AI for practice and dailies

  • Four pack tiers (Verdant free / Azure / Crimson / Gilded)

  • Full crafting and dismantle economy with Stardust

  • A scripted tutorial that takes you from "what's a Quintessence" to your first fusion in one sitting

  • Seasonal events and rotating limited mini-sets

For the curious

You don't need to know any chemistry to play. But if you do, you'll notice things. The flame-test colours your creatures glow with. The molecules your fusions produce. The reasons sodium and chlorine love each other. Alembix is built on real science the way a great fantasy is built on real myth — quietly, in the foundations, never as a lecture.

Early Access

Alembix will launch into Early Access. The full card set, ranked play, and the Athanor are in. We'll be adding seasons, tribes events, social features, and trading as the community grows. Join us early, shape the meta, and brew with us.
