What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“XGUN is a multiplayer game, and multiplayer games are shaped by the people playing them. Weapon balance, extraction timing, how aggressive the infected should be, how punishing losing your gear feels I have opinions about all of these, but opinions are not data. I want to build the rest of this game with the people who play it rather than guess and ship.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Around 12 to 18 months. If it needs longer to be right, it will take longer, and I'll say so here rather than quietly ship something unfinished.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“- Larger raids supporting up to 20 players
- Additional regions of the island
- Additional game modes
- An expanded creature ecosystem
- Deeper progression and endgame content
- Balance and content shaped by Early Access feedback”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable and complete through the core loop. You can deploy onto Kish Island, loot it, fight the infected, craft and modify weapons in the field, and extract with friends online, alone, entirely offline, or in split-screen on one couch.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will likely increase at full release as content is added. Buying during Early Access means you pay the lowest price XGUN will have.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The Discord is where development actually happens dev updates every Friday, playtest builds, and direct discussion about design decisions before they're made rather than after.”

About This Game

Four years ago, a bioweapon leaked on Kish Island. The world closed the door and left it to drown.

You go in anyway.

XGUN is a co-op zombie extraction shooter. Land on a storm-drowned resort island, loot the flooded hotels and duty-free malls, recover what the outbreak buried — and reach the boat before the dark finds you.

And it works without other people. Play it online with friends, entirely offline on your own, or split-screen with someone on the same couch. No servers to wait for. No lobby to sit in. No version of this game that stops working when the player count drops.

GET IN

Deploy from the Pearl by boat or helicopter into a Persian Gulf resort four years into its ruin. Five-star lobbies under a meter of seawater. Duty-free malls stripped to the shelving. Palm trees bent flat by the storm.

Every raid starts the same way and ends differently. What you carry in, you can lose. What you carry out, you keep.

GRAB IT

Search containers, corpses, and the bodies of the infected. Weapons, medical supplies, materials, and the Mordax documents somebody went to a lot of trouble to bury.

  • Weight matters. Every item has mass. Overload yourself and you will not outrun what's chasing you.

  • Craft in the field. Turn what you scavenged into ammunition, medical supplies, and equipment without leaving the raid.

  • Modify your weapons. Suppressors, optics, lasers, and grips attach to the actual weapon model — what you see is what you're carrying.

  • Weapons break. Wear degrades your gun. Repair it, or watch it jam at the worst possible moment.

THE ISLAND HUNTS BACK

The infected are not a texture on the map. They're the reason the map is dangerous.

  • They hunt light. Your flashlight is the most useful and most dangerous item you carry.

  • They hear you. Sprint, fire unsuppressed, and you announce yourself to everything within earshot.

  • They come in kinds. Sprinters that close distance faster than you can reload. Heavy bodies that soak a magazine and keep walking. Carriers that detonate. And something larger, further in.

  • They travel. Hordes move. A district that was quiet on the way in may not be on the way out.

Night vision, thermal, and X-Vision let you see what's coming. None of them stop it.

GET OUT ALIVE

Extraction is the whole game. Fire the flare, hold the point, and survive until the boat arrives — carrying everything you found, with everything on the island now aware of exactly where you are.

Make it out and it's yours. Don't, and it stays on the island.

NO SERVER REQUIRED

Most extraction shooters stop being games the moment nobody else is online. This one doesn't.

  • Online co-op. Squad up with proximity voice chat — the closer you are, the clearer you hear each other.

  • Solo. The full raid loop, alone, with nobody to pick you up.

  • Fully offline. No connection, no account check, no matchmaking. The complete game, on your machine.

  • Split-screen couch co-op. Two players, one screen, two controllers. Almost nobody makes this any more.

Split-screen runs at reduced graphics settings — two viewports share one frame budget. Everything else is the same game.

BETWEEN RAIDS

The hub is where you're safe. Store what you extracted, build your loadout, customize your character, and train the skills that keep you alive longer next time. Then go back.
