What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I want Sanguine to be the best survival horror experience it can be, and Early Access allows me to shape it alongside the community. The game will be completed whether or not Early Access generates sales — development is moving forward regardless. However, community feedback during this period will be invaluable in refining mechanics, balancing difficulty, and improving the overall experience.

Early Access also gives me the opportunity to polish existing features, expand content, and make adjustments based on how real players engage with the game. This collaborative process will help ensure that the final release resonates with both fans of classic PSX-era horror and players looking for a fresh take on the genre.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The plan is to leave Early Access in Q4 2027, when the full version launches.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version focuses on the beginning of Kris’s campaign, which includes a substantial amount of story and gameplay content. The full version is planned to expand on this with additional acts, another playable campaign (Jack), and more areas, puzzles, enemies, and cutscenes. These additions will build on the foundation of Early Access, providing more perspectives on the story and more survival horror challenges.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is currently in its polish stage, with Early Access scheduled to launch on October 24, 2025. The Early Access release will feature Kris’s campaign, including all core gameplay systems, a variety of locations, enemies, puzzles, and progression features already described in the About This Game section.

The only major feature not yet included in Early Access is the second, interwoven campaign from Jack’s perspective—this will be introduced at full release. For full details on the features and content already implemented, please refer to the About This Game section.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price is planned to increase when Sanguine leaves Early Access to reflect the additional content and polish added during development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback has been vital so far and will continue to guide development. I actively listen to suggestions, bug reports, and criticism, using them to improve mechanics, balance, and story delivery. I want players to feel like they’re shaping Sanguine alongside me, ensuring the final release is the strongest it can be.”

About This Game

Welcome to Sanguine, a survival horror experience that revives the terrifying spirit of the late 90s. Step into the ruined town of Craven Oaks, where something inhuman has been unleashed. To survive, you must scavenge, fight, solve puzzles, and piece together the fragments of your past before the Bloods consume everything.

Gameplay Overview:

  • Classic PSX Survival Horror – Fixed camera angles, tank controls, and authentic low-poly visuals deliver an unsettling retro experience.

  • Dual Gameplay Modes – Play your way with both Classic (fixed camera angles) and Modern (third-person, over-the-shoulder) perspectives, each offering a distinct survival experience.

  • Two Interwoven Campaigns – Experience the nightmare from different perspectives in two playable campaigns, each with unique stories that unfold across the same haunting events.

  • Resource Management – Every bullet counts. Scavenge, craft, and manage your inventory to endure the nightmare.

  • Weapon Variety – From knives to shotguns, discover and upgrade weapons to fight back against the enemy.

  • Rich Story & Puzzles – Unravel a mystery woven through intricate puzzles, environmental storytelling, and chilling encounters.

  • Immersive Atmosphere – Dynamic lighting, ambient effects, and a haunting soundscape heighten tension at every turn.

  • Original Music & Cutscenes – Cinematic sequences and a unique soundtrack draw you deeper into the horror.

  • Found Footage Discovery – Collect live-action VHS tapes, filmed in real life and spliced into the game, to uncover hidden truths.

  • Steam Achievements – Test your skills and uncover secrets as you progress.

Story & Characters:

You play as Kris, a survivor pulled from the wreckage of a car crash with no memory of who she is. Stranded in Craven Oaks, she discovers a community torn apart by a nightmare born from AlTran Corporation’s shadowy experiments.

  • Kris: Strong-willed yet vulnerable, her amnesia makes every step a battle between survival and self-discovery.

  • The Bloods: Hive-minded parasites that seize human hosts, twisting them into relentless, monstrous forms.

  • AlTran Corporation: Led by the enigmatic Dr. Gabriel Altran, the company’s grip on Craven Oaks hides dark secrets buried beneath its pursuit of innovation.

As Kris navigates the town, she’ll encounter other survivors—some allies, some threats. Each choice and alliance could mean the difference between survival and assimilation.

The town itself becomes an enemy: from the quiet diner where it all begins, to abandoned streets, sewer tunnels, and the looming AlTran headquarters, every corner hides danger and revelation.

Why Sanguine?

Sanguine isn’t just a clear love letter to the 90's classics—it’s a modern reimagining. By blending retro aesthetics, atmospheric design, live-action VHS tapes, and branching story choices, the game offers a nostalgic yet fresh horror experience built for fans of true survival horror.

Wishlist now, survive later—if you can.
