About This Content

Dive into the depths of suspense with Sharkarma, the first cinematic-grade CG short film designed exclusively for 6-Degrees-of-Freedom (6DoF) VR. Directed by Cinzia Angelini and powered by the Lumiere-award-winning V-Nova PresenZ format, Sharkarma blends visual immersion with a grounded warning message on the ripple-effects (karma) of bad actions.

The project is developed with the support of conservation partners including WildAid, Wendy Benchley (wife of Peter Benchley, author of Jaws), Stop Finning EU, Diane Warren Foundation, and benefits from technical collaboration with Lenovo.

The over 15-minute CG movie follows marine explorer Dr. Karam Mana as he uncovers a brutal shark-finning operation during a deep-sea mysterious expedition. But in the shadows of the Pacific, something ancient awakens to restore balance.

Key Features

  • Immersive VR cinematography: the film uses the revolutionary V-Nova PresenZ format to deliver offline ray-traced 6DoF visuals, allowing viewers to move freely within smooth scenes with realistic physics, lighting and complexity that go beyond what real-time game engines would be able to achieve.

  • Narrative-driven experience: follow a story that mixes marine environments with mystery and thrilling action.

  • Ocean conservation twist: the fictional experience touches on real-world issues like shark finning and the destruction of marine ecosystems, with input from environmental organizations.

  • Sharkarma takes you into the depth of the ring of fire with a sense of wonder and growing tension. What starts as an expedition with friends takes a darker turn, delivering intense, suspenseful  sequences that aren’t for the faint of heart.

Awards

The V-Nova PresenZ format has won three Lumiere Awards from Hollywood’s Advanced Imaging Society, recognizing its groundbreaking visual fidelity and its potential to unlock the future of immersive VR storytelling.

A Quick Note Before You Download

Sharkarma is not a traditional video — it’s a volumetric film

That means higher immersion… and a bigger download.

✔ Download size: ~161GB (on NVMe SSD, no SATA SSD support)
✔ Recommended GPU: RTX 2080 Super or higher

Yes, it’s big.
But that’s because you’re not watching a movie — you’re stepping inside one (and without our compression technology, and over 250 patents, it would be over 100× larger).

A cloud streaming version is also planned for easier access. But you're a pioneer, aren't you?
