What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are developing Wizard of Foam Magic with player feedback. Spell Weaving, gifts and curses, combat difficulty and progression between expeditions all benefit from playtesting. Early Access helps us understand which choices are interesting, where the game needs clearer explanations and which problems to address first.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We do not currently have a confirmed date for the full release. That decision will depend on stability, balance and playtest results.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our priority is to refine the existing systems: the clarity of Weaving, the balance of magic and enemies, the variety of challenges, the interface, sound and performance. Further scope will be guided by testing and feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The new version is built around a town hub and dungeon expeditions. It includes four elements and matching staves, Spell Weaving, temporary gifts with curses, rune discoveries and permanent rune research. Dungeons feature boss fights, traps, secrets and different challenges. Balance, usability and technical stability are still being refined.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the price will not change. For those who purchased the game in early access, all subsequent innovations will be absolutely free”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Share bugs, impressions and suggestions in the game's Steam discussions. Examples of your spell formulas, feedback on difficulty, rewards and curses, and reports of unclear objectives or interface elements are especially helpful. We use this feedback when choosing the next improvements.”

About This Game

Great magic. Questionable errands. Consequences may vary.

Wizard of Foam Magic is a top-down action adventure built around spell crafting and dungeon expeditions. Beyond the cosy town walls lie traps, hidden chambers and the owners of ancient relics, who have absolutely no intention of handing them over. The shopkeeper, naturally, insists the job is perfectly safe.

Weave your own spells

Choose an element, a delivery method and an effect. A swift ice bolt? A sustained beam? A sphere that pursues an enemy and leaves a fire-and-lightning storm on impact? Weaving lets you build these formulas from unlocked runes and save them for battle.

Combine Fire, Ice, Earth and Lightning. Give two elements separate effects or fuse them into a reaction. Add splitting, piercing, chaining and echoes where they fit. Formula complexity, mana and a matching staff determine the magic you can wield.

Win through movement and magic

Keep your distance, time your attacks and watch for the wind-up of a dangerous strike. Narrow passages and open halls call for different answers: projectiles for precise hits, lingering areas to control space, and linked spells for a planned combination. Bosses, traps and breakable scenery give you reasons to look beyond the nearest enemy.

Every gift has a price

A chest can offer a staff upgrade with a random curse attached. Accept the risk for a new property or turn down the reward. Gifts and curses last for the current expedition, including its later floors, and reset when you return to town.

Return stronger, then descend again

In town, choose your equipment and wizard appearance, unlock abilities and study discovered runes. Runic imprints found during an expedition provide temporary weaving options. Defeat the boss and bring your discoveries home to expand your permanent rune knowledge. Repeat challenges raise both the difficulty and the rewards.

Find secret rooms, cross moving bridges, disable deadly mechanisms and work out portal routes. Explore gloomy dungeons with a less-than-gloomy attitude to magical treasure: a cloak of great power may turn out to have a remarkably practical purpose.
