Expedition: Backrooms is a co-op survival game built around an original Expedition Survival formula, set in an open-world interpretation of the Backrooms. Prepare expeditions, uncover the story, expand your base, gather resources, and make it back alive - everything you carry beyond the safe zone can be lost forever.

The entire game world exists as one continuous space connected to your base - the only relatively safe place left. Every expedition begins with a decision: what equipment to bring, how far to push forward, how much risk to take, and whether you can make it back before your supplies run out. If you die, you lose everything you had on you. The only way to recover your gear is to return to the exact place where you died.

This is not a short escape from a single Backrooms level. It’s a long-term expedition into a world that must be explored, secured, and slowly understood - step by step, zone by zone.

THE BACKROOMS WORLD

Explore a vast, open-world Backrooms environment - an interconnected network of abandoned complexes, endless office spaces, tunnels, contaminated zones, and anomalies. These are not isolated levels, but one continuous reality where every expedition may reveal new pathways, shortcuts, and places that defy known rules.

STORY

You play as a member of an Expedition sent to investigate a space that, with every step forward, feels less like a random anomaly and more like the consequence of human arrogance, fear, and obsession.

Behind abandoned facilities, missing research teams, and corporations hiding the truth lies the story of people who tried to control something they could not even name.

The deeper you go, the harder it becomes to separate discovery from guilt, science from obsession, and the desire to understand the world from the moment the world begins to understand you.

BASE & OUTPOSTS

Your base physically exists within the game world and serves as the heart of the entire expedition. This is where you store resources, develop technologies, prepare equipment, and plan future operations.

Beyond the main base, you can build specialized outposts that allow you to reach deeper areas - but every new position brings not only advantages, but new risks as well.

SURVIVAL

The Backrooms do not forgive poor preparation.

The wrong loadout can kill you faster than anything lurking ahead: not enough batteries, too little water, a damaged suit, an overloaded backpack, or a team that starts panicking at the worst possible moment.

Combat is only one part of survival. Sometimes exhaustion, pressure, and the realization that you are too far from base to safely turn back become far more dangerous than the enemy itself.

Exploration is not just about combat and gathering resources. Certain passages, anomalies, and hidden zones require observation, experimentation, and connecting clues hidden throughout the world. Knowledge gained from previous expeditions can become just as important as weapons, light sources, or spare supplies.

Resources, data, and recovered samples fuel research, technology, and upgrades that allow you to survive in increasingly unstable zones.

CO-OP THAT CREATES ITS OWN STORIES

Survive alone or with others.

In co-op, planning expeditions together, sharing resources, rescuing teammates, covering retreats, and recovering equipment after failed missions all become part of the story you create yourselves.

Even small moments - rolling dice together or simply sitting beneath flickering lights after a failed expedition - offer brief moments of normality in a world that constantly tries to take it away.

EQUIPMENT

A hybrid inventory system based on the physical size of items turns preparation into a meaningful decision rather than a formality.

Every inch of space in your backpack and storage matters. Every item has a purpose, a cost, and the potential to decide whether you make it home alive.

Do you bring more ammunition or extra batteries?
A protective suit or more room for loot?
Medical supplies, building tools, or enough water for the return trip?
