Why Early Access?

“Brawlygon is a fighting game, so bug testing, game feel and balancing are very crucial to the player experience. Early Access will allow me to get feedback, so when the game fully releases, it can be in the most polished state possible for the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Hopefully, just a year or two.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“As of now, Early access has 6 characters & stages, as well as offline multiplayer modes, & an incomplete arcade and challenge mode.
More characters and stages are currently being added & worked on, as well as expanding the arcade & challenge modes, until all content for the full release has been completed. The current ui, vfx, sfx, and bgm are not final, and may undergo frequent/major changes until release.
The plan is to have at least 12 characters, an unspecified number of stages, as well as the complete arcade & challenge modes for the full launch.
After release, more characters and stages could potentially be added for free, or at a low cost.
A training (stage, based on the traditional, grid-style training mode stages found in many fighting games), is also planned for development.
Online communication (voice chat) is a possible, but no plans have been made for it.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently around 30% of the planned full game, content wise. 6 out of the 12 base characters are mostly complete, and the other additional launch characters (beyond the base 12), have no progress whatsoever. Ui, vfx, bgm and sfx are unfinished, Arcade and Challenge mode are functional but lack polish, and online has not been implemented.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price will likely change after Early Access, but the plan is to remain inexpensive. Being affordable is one of the ways Brawlygon is intending to be an approachable fighting game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“This is a fighting game, so naturally community involvement is incredibly important to its development. Game mechanics, balance, new content... all of that and more will be influenced by community feedback. Communication through email is fine, but I will primarily communicate through Steam forums, YouTube, Twitter/X, & eventually Discord.”
