What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want Sancticide to be the best experience possible, and Early Access allows us to shape the game alongside the community.

We’ve already seen how valuable player feedback is—our updated demo was developed entirely based on input from the community, content creators, and their audiences. This collaboration helped us refine core mechanics, improve balance, and enhance the overall experience. Now, we want to take that process even further.

Your input will directly influence the game’s evolution, ensuring that the final version delivers a deep and satisfying challenge.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We estimate that Sancticide will remain in Early Access for approximately 5 to 10 months. However, this may change depending on the complexity of player feedback and our ongoing assessment of the game’s development.

Our priority is to refine and expand the experience without rushing the process.

We plan to actively engage with the community and release regular updates to ensure the best possible game version.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The foundation of Sancticide is already in place, and we plan to expand and refine the experience throughout Early Access. Our goal is to introduce a broader arsenal of weapons and abilities, including additional melee and ranged options and new Purple Powers that could further manipulate time and reality.

We also hope to expand the apocalyptic world with new locations, new enemy types, and more varied encounters. The Kosherness system may be further developed, offering deeper consequences for player choices and interactions with NPCs.

As development progresses, we aim to fine-tune combat mechanics, balance difficulty, and refine UI elements based on community feedback. We also intend to expand the game's lore, giving players more opportunities to uncover the mysteries of the End Times.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Sancticide delivers a gripping, skill-based experience even in its Early Access form. The core gameplay loop is fully functional, offering intense melee and ranged combat with roguelite progression.

You’ll be able to explore seven distinct levels, each presenting unique challenges and encounters, with the full release expanding this number to twelve.

At the Early Access launch, players can access a limited selection of Sin Collector’s Powers and weapons—melee and ranged. The final version will feature 9 Purple Powers, 24 different melee weapons, and six types of firearms, significantly expanding combat possibilities. Similarly, while Early Access will pit you against twelve unique enemies, the complete game will raise that number to twenty-one, introducing even deadlier foes as the apocalypse unfolds.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“At this moment, we plan to offer a lower price for those who purchase the game during Early Access as both an incentive and a reward for supporting us throughout development. We anticipate increasing the price for the final version of the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We'll engage with you through Steam Discussions and our Community Hub, where you can share feedback, report bugs, and discuss mechanics with the team and fellow players. Our Discord server will serve as a direct line of communication with the devs and a space for deeper discussions and suggestions.

We’ll provide regular developer updates to keep everyone informed, transparently describing our work, upcoming patches, and new features. Additionally, select players may be invited to test experimental builds, giving them an early look at changes and a chance to help shape the game before it goes live.”

Roadmap

Our Early Access Roadmap outlines the key additions and improvements we plan to make. These aim to deepen the game's story, expand your experience, and refine Ezechiel the Seventh's brutal journey.

This roadmap marks the foundation of what's to come, but it's not set in stone. Your feedback will continue to shape Sancticide, and we’re committed to adapting the game based on your insights and experiences.

About This Game

Sancticide is a melee-focused TPP action RPG game set in the world of the biblical Apocalypse. The combat system pays homage to the games of yore while manipulating the environment and physically interacting with it, expanding tactical possibilities.

The unique, twisted setting serves as a backdrop to the tale of Ezechiel - a fresh recruit to the Sin Collector Corps, haunted by remorse and guilt as he embarks on one of his most essential missions yet. Explore the unforgiving world in which death is not the end but merely another beginning.

  •  The main storyline follows Ezechiel's trials and tribulations during his most demanding assignment yet. At the same time, the sidequest presents the day-to-day life of an officer serving Them at The Top.

  • Explore and learn the rules governing the world of the biblical Apocalypse, which is filled with agony, suffering, struggle, and a glimmer of hope and humanity in the least expected places.

  • Dynamic Dueling in the End Times: dive into battles that blend old-school arena fighter intensity with modern third-person action mechanics fueled by the chaos of the biblical end times.

  • Strategic Chaos: use the scorched remnants of the world to your advantage—slam enemies into hellish hazards, crush them with debris, and reshape the battlefield to survive.

  • Heavenly Arsenal: Wield sacred melee weapons, unholy ranged gear, and the divine power of "Purple" to craft a combat style worthy of a Sin Collector in the apocalypse.

  • Build the character best suited to your playstyle by experimenting with various skills and abilities and customizing the weapons.

Wield the Purple Powers, a divine force that allows:

  • Kinetic manipulation of objects and enemies.

  • Passive enhancements to boost your survivability.

  • Active abilities to alter time, perception, or devastate foes.

  • Together, they serve as an essential and helpful tool to make or break a fight.

  • Battle against various foes with distinct appearances, movement styles, and weaknesses.

  • Encounter Sinners and Debtors, mortals marked for divine judgment, and outwit or overpower Proselytes - fanatical minions of Them at The Top.

The idea of Kosherness assumes that all items and beings belong to one of two categories: Kosher (acceptable for Them at The Top) or unkosher (unacceptable).

This influences not only the flow of sidequests in Sancticide but also issues such as relations between enemy units, Ezechiel, and NPCs, the choice of equipment, and player progression mechanics closely related to collecting and reforging unKosher items, as well as access to certain areas.

Death in Sancticide is never a simple punishment. It allows the player to better understand the persistent world's rules and adjust their approach with each run. Each defeat is a chance to strengthen yourself, refine your strategy, and explore the mysteries of the stalled Apocalypse.

This Steam Early Access game is currently not a finished game and may or may not change significantly over the course of development.
