About This Game

‘Harrowed World: Wormwood Rising’, has been available to wishlist on Steam for some time as a visual novel, but I must now announce that I announce that it will in fact not be released as a visual novel.

Instead, I will release the title as a book, which is what it was originally intended for. I plan to make it available in eBook and audiobook formats, with no print copies currently planned.

This is not a decision I have taken likely but I’ve taken some time to think about what’s best for the story and I believe this is it. In the future I plan to only develop stories as visual novels that I’ve written from scratch for that format.

I wrote the original version of the story for a YouTube collaboration a few years ago and then I released an extended edition as a free gift for newsletter subscribers featuring a new epilogue.

I later took the decision to no longer offer the story as a gift and no new copies will be given via the newsletter though if you have a copy, you are a free to keep it.

The new version will simply be ‘Harrowed World: Wormwood Rising’, it will not be identified as an extended edition, but it will retain the new epilogue.

I plan to do some small revisions to the story and add in some more additional content though the main structure and storyline will remain the same.

A release date will be announced in due course. This release will be extremely important as it will be used to test whether further Harrowed World book releases will be viable in the near future.

The DLC stories for ‘Harrowed World: What’s Past Is Portents’, are still in development, and ‘Harrowed World: Portents In Red’, continues to be developed behind the scenes. Nothing regarding these games has changed because of this decision.
