What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We believe PlanetSmith is a game that needs to grow alongside its community, so we can more easily shape it into the type of game our growing community will love and continue to play into the future.

When Early Access launches we will have the beginnings of our survival mode in place, but there's so much more to come. The scope of PlanetSmith is massive, as we want to have many types of huge procedural worlds and a spaceflight system that players can use to fly around the solar system between all of these unique worlds.

Players will eventually be able to explore large dungeons, fight exciting bosses, and collect special artefacts they can use to enhance their play.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our early access will be split into two stages. Stage one is Survival Mode, which will come out when we launch into Early Access. Survival Mode will be in early access for a year, and then the second stage, Multiplayer, will begin. The multiplayer stage of early access will be another year.

We expect to reach a 1.0 release in early 2028.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the full version we plan to have these features:

  • Full multiplayer
  • Tool & Weapon Smithing
  • Player Gear (Armor etc)
  • Farming
  • Boss fights
  • Ship Building
  • Space Exploration
  • Alien Worlds

Those are all the features we are planning for the 1.0 release. However that doesn't mean we won't continue working on the game, adding more content for you to explore and enjoy.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“When early access launches we will have the beginnings of survival mode in place, and creative mode is completely available. Players can create planets of any size and there is a small amount of survival mode content. Multiplayer is not available, and neither is the space travel or shipbuilding aspects of the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We already do! Our growing community has already proved to be extremely helpful in the development of PlanetSmith. If you're interested in joining our community and submitting feedback or suggestions, make sure to join the PlanetSmith Discord!”

About This Game

Disaster strikes a remote research base on a distant moon. Your escape pod malfunctions and slams into an uncharted, Earth-like planet. You wake with nothing but wreckage, your instincts, and a whole world to tame.

Survive. Build. Escape. But escape is only the beginning. The creatures hunting you are connected to the catastrophe that stranded you here, and whatever caused it has spread across the solar system. Build a ship, launch into space, and find out why no one ever came to rescue you.

  • Fully spherical worlds. Walk in one direction long enough and you will come home again.
  • Seamless space travel. Fly from planet to planet with no loading screens.
  • Survive and progress. Crafting, farming, dungeons, and boss fights on the road to building your ship.
  • Create without limits. Hexagon building in a dedicated Creative Mode.
  • Worlds that make sense. Procedural planets driven by real climate simulation.
  • Play your way. Solo, with friends, or on massive multiplayer servers.

Survive the Landing

Crash-land with nothing and claw your way back. Forage, hunt, and craft your first tools. Cook to stay alive, raise shelter before nightfall, and upgrade your gear as the wildlife grows bolder. Deeper progression unlocks farming, advanced crafting, and equipment forged from rare ores buried far beneath the surface.

The deeper you dig and the further you roam, the deadlier it gets. Delve into dungeons, fight what lives there, and take down the bosses guarding the technology and materials you need for one goal: getting back to space.

A Whole Planet, Not a Map

Every planet is a true sphere with no edges and no invisible walls. Biomes are placed by simulated climate: temperature, rainfall, elevation, and latitude decide where deserts bake, forests spread, and ice gathers at the poles. If you can read a landscape, you can predict where resources will be, so discovery feels earned instead of random.

Build a Ship. Leave the Planet.

Escape is not a cutscene. Build your own spaceship, climb in, and fly it out of the atmosphere yourself. The planet shrinks behind you, the stars sharpen, and the whole solar system opens up for you to explore.

** Image 06 **

Every moon and planet is fully explorable, with harsher conditions, stranger lifeforms, and more advanced resources. Some worlds feel almost familiar. Others have molten oceans, bizarre geological formations, and maze-like terrain twisting across an entire globe. Each landing asks you to adapt all over again as the mystery of the system unfolds.

Create Without Limits

Creative Mode removes every limit: unlimited resources, no threats, and the entire solar system as your canvas. Hexagons open up shapes and angles that block grids never could. Carve and sculpt whole planets into living dioramas, hollow out worlds, raise floating cities, or build scenes that wrap seamlessly around a full sphere.

Every surface is rendered in trixel art, triangular pixels built to match our hexagonal block shapes edge to edge. Where square pixels fight the geometry, trixels follow it, giving every build sharp, seamless detail whether you are shaping a tiny cabin or terraforming an entire planet.

Play Together

PlanetSmith is built to be shared. From day one of Early Access, play the full survival journey solo, team up with friends, or join massive multiplayer servers where whole communities carve up a solar system together.

Growing Through Early Access

PlanetSmith launches into Early Access with Survival and Multiplayer together from day one. From there, the solar system keeps growing: new moons and planets to land on, new creatures to fight, new biomes and resources to discover, and deeper technology to unlock with every update. We build in the open: five years of public devlogs, a funded Kickstarter behind us, and a community whose feedback directs what gets built next.

Wishlist PlanetSmith and follow the devlogs as we build it, in the open, one hexel at a time.
