What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“There are still bugs to fix and features I would like to implement, so I don't consider this to be a full release. Until then, I want to let players to see what the game has to offer, and gather any feedback for improvements and quality of life features. This is the first game I have published as a game programming student so the design might need some work.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I estimate 6-12 months, but It depends on my schedule because I'm doing this on my free time and juggling other projects. Summer and Winter break might be my only opportunities for development. If I was able to work on this project full-time it would likely take 1-3 months. The game idea is simple, but there is a lot happening under the hood to make everything work.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I'd like to add additional rarities for items, additional spells, improved dungeon generation, and improved loot & itemization. I want the gameplay loop to feel rewarding and the player to feel themselves getting stronger. One thing I really want to add is additional combat options for non-casters. Controller support is also a possibility.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“You can experience everything the game has to offer. Kill monsters, collect items, learn spells, and endlessly descend through the dungeon. The game is playable, but there are bugs and your game may crash. To combat losing progression due to crashes, the game is saved every time you go to town.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“There are currently no plans to charge for this game, but that could change if players want additional features that don't exist in the game, such as crafting or quests.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I will read every review, forum post, and comment, and keep the community involved in the development process. I also have a discord server for all players that I personally manage where they can provide feedback, report bugs, and get support.

About This Game

Created by programming students at the Academy of Art University on our free time, Project Rogue is a roguelite, first-person dungeon crawler inspired by classic RPGs with a modern touch. Explore the endless dungeon as you kill monsters, level up, and collect loot. The dungeon is procedurally generated so it will always be a different experience. Find magic items to improve your character so that you can survive boss fights in deeper levels. The class you select determines your starting equipment, and then you choose how your character progresses. Will you play a hardened fighter wielding two-handed weapons? Or perhaps a spell caster that overwhelms enemies with magic? You are in control.
