What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Roy Rattler is my first commercial game and it is a solo development effort on-top of it all. It also includes a number of immersive sim elements planned for it's gameplay and that number will only increase with time (and as is the nature of immersive game design, emergent gameplay will likely become future features). So my hope is that by rolling out title updates every 2-4 weeks, I can utilize community feedback to steer the game's direction into a great game that is as much immersive sim as it is survival horror as it is mascot horror.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It's anticipated that at the current pace of development, Roy Rattler should be feature complete in 6-12 months following regular title updates.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will include 5 interconnected levels that will be introduced and expanded as development goes along to support interconnected travel throughout the game world. When complete, each level will have it's own visual theme, puzzles & mini-games,. The game will feature nearly two dozen unique enemies and at least one boss encounter per level. The final game will also have additional difficulty settings, bonus gameplay modes and a gallery of concept art, test footage, trailers, turntables of the game's 3D models, etc.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As of now, the game will have 1 of 5 levels, there will be only one difficulty level and gameplay features such as enemies, weapons and items will be limited. An estimated release date for the next title update will be on the main menu.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be sold at a reduced price compared to the full release at the start of early access. As major title updates release, the price will progressively increase toward it's the final price in line with the game's overall completion. Once Roy Rattler has left early access, the game will assume it's full price and will not increase beyond that.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“While I may not always participate in Steam forum discussions or other social media discourse, I will most certainly be watching and reading your comments during the early access period as well as creating development roadmaps that will contain detailed descriptions of the content in upcoming title updates. As feedback is collected, I will update the roadmaps to contain information regarding known bugs with the game and any features that are added to the game's development plans as a result of community feedback/emergent gameplay scenarios.”

About This Game

Roy Rattler is a survival-horror FPS about being trapped in a theme park after a biotech experiment gone wrong brings it's collection of characters to life as murderous mascots! Players will have to think to survive as they engage in non-linear exploration and tense combat with limited resources against a variety of seemingly unstoppable threats.

Explore:

-Non-linear objectives means that you can tackle the game in a variety of different ways, with the player being able to pick and choose what tasks they want to complete first, dealing with all the advantages and disadvantages that come with them.

-An interconnected game world that takes the form of a sprawling theme park

-You are not alone. The theme park's titular mascot, Roy Rattler, is both your closest ally and greatest tool! Utilize his upgrade-able cartoon biology to unlock abilities such as: Flashlight Eyes, Grappling Hook Tongue or the Giga-Chomp to find hidden passages and alternate routes toward your objective.

Survive:

-You are not defenseless. While Roy isn't much of a fighter, the player will have access to an arsenal of weapons and tools including the Copperhead. A battery-powered, electrical-bolt firing revolver that doubles as a way to power the various machines and systems around the theme park.

-The theme park's Star Characters cannot be defeated by conventional means and are as persistent as they are deadly. While minor threats can be dispatched, Players will have to find a way to stun the Stars, sneak past them or find their secret weakness if they hope to survive the night!

-Manage your inventory in a way that should be very familiar to genre fans!
