Why Early Access?

“We’ve chosen Early Access so we can continue improving Meadgard alongside our community.

Our previous two playtests gave us a lot of valuable feedback and helped us understand what players enjoyed most and identified areas we could improve. Early Access gives us more time to implement these changes and we can continue taking players' feedback on board so we can create the best experience in Meadgard. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our initial estimate is that Meadgard will be in Early Access for around 4–5 months. Over these months, we’ll be fixing issues, making improvements and polishing the overall game for the full launch. We also have a huge catalogue of additional features and new content that we’d like to explore along the way.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“When Meadgard leaves Early Access, we’ll continue building on what we’ve created with additional content and improvements shaped by what our players have fed back.

Our current plans include:
  • Expanding the world map
  • Introducing more characters
  • Adding new ingredients, craftable items and dishes
  • Adding more ways to customize your character and your tavern

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Meadgard is playable solo or in online co-op with friends.

By day, you set out to explore the world, forage for ingredients and battle mythological creatures. By night, you return to run your tavern. Serve mead, play music and cook dishes for demanding Viking customers using what you gathered.

The current version includes:
  • A world to explore with ingredients to gather and creatures to fight
  • Cooking and serving dishes in your tavern
  • Characters to meet in the village, some of whom offer items and upgrades
  • Character and tavern customization

    As the game is still in development, you may encounter bugs. We'll do our best to keep save files compatible between updates, but we can't guarantee that every update will. Any such changes will be communicated in our patch notes.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the price of Meadgard will be lower during Early Access and is expected to increase at full release. The lower price reflects that the game is still in active development, and it's our way of thanking the players who join us early and help shape the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our community will be building Meadgard alongside us during Early Access. We’ll regularly share development updates on Steam so players can follow how Meadgard evolves and how their feedback is being used.

We'll also be active on Discord and our social media channels, where players can share feedback, report bugs and take part in polls, discussions and community activities.”

About This Game

The Norse gods are coming to your tavern; and they expect the best seat in the house.

In Meadgard, you and up to three friends are unlikely innkeepers in a world crawling with mythological chaos. You have one shot at glory: build the greatest Viking tavern the Nine Realms have ever seen and earn a place at Valhalla’s legendary feast.

Every morning sends you into the wild to hunt, forage, and fight for ingredients. Every evening the doors open, the mead flows, and the mayhem begins.

Leave the tavern behind and venture into dangerous wilds to hunt and fight mythical creatures, raid camps, gather ingredients, and uncover hidden treasures. Fight trolls with frying pans, dodge swarms of mischievous nissar, and haul your loot home before opening time.
