What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

““Star We There Yet? is 100% fun and around 20% polished, which means now is the perfect time to get people to try it out and get their feedback!

We’re especially excited for players to try out our turn-based PVP Merge gameplay, which was inspired by games like Pokémon. Properly testing and tuning this type of game mode takes a big crowd of patient and extremely attractive individuals playing and giving their feedback. Hey, have you been working out? You look good!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our main goal is to get the game working cross platform, to make it easy for players to match up with their friends or an endless armada of highly skilled strangers. We also want to polish up a bunch of the game, adding more animation and at least 55% more sparkle and pizzazz.

That being said - we don’t expect to be in Early Access for too long. Once we feel the game is right, we’ll hit the launch button. Most likely sometime in 2023.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Mostly with more content, more polish, and more ability to play with friends. We have a lot of features we’re hoping to roll out, including improved social systems (start your own Federation?), monthly content, ranked PVP, cosmetics, etc. That’ll take time though!

We’re also hoping to hear suggestions from fans and early adopters on what they would like to see next. This part is always more fun when you’re talking to people who are enjoying the game. We’d like to order a few thousand of those, if you please.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All of the features listed in the "About This" section are implemented! The game is fun, stable, and definitely worth a test drive!

We’re a scrappy little team, and we want to make the game big and bold and breathtaking. We know that there’s still tons of stuff to add to make it feel “whole”, but we’re having a blast playing it internally, so we feel like this is a great time to invite others to play with us.

Also - you’ll likely notice the game is currently optimized in a “portrait” screen format. This is obviously to make it easy to play across PC and Mobile, since the final version will allow players to battle cross platform. We’ll wait to hear from players on how they feel about it.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Our prices won’t be changing (the game is free!), but we’re hoping to eventually do something special for all our early adopters.

There’s going to be optional purchases to boost your progress. We’ll do our best to make sure those purchases aren’t lost when we final transition to full launch.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“YES PLEASE! Sorry, that doesn’t really answer “how”... We plan on being super active in the Steam Community channels, and we’re also in the process of setting up additional communication platforms so we can properly interact with the hopefully millions of people who want to play S.We.T.Y?

But in terms of what we want feedback on - the answer is everything! We’d love to hear ideas on everything from what to polish, to what new features people would like to see, to suggestions for stories or twists. The sky’s the limit! Tell us what is inside your thinking meeeaaat!”

About This Game

Welcome to “Star We There Yet?”, a game about traveling the cosmos, collecting extraordinary crew, and battling with friends and foes alike in exciting merge-conflict matchups! Engaging!

A wholesome mix of idle “Catch Some Zs” gameplay and “Catch Them All” combat, “S.We.T.Y?” features a huge cast of loveable and loathsome characters, faster-than-light space travel set to a slower-than-slight soundtrack, and tons of intriguing destinations to discover and then immediately leave behind.

Fun to play for five minutes or five hours, it’s the perfect game to play in between other more demanding games!

Featuring:

  • A cast of 65 characters to collect, each with their own special abilities and winning personalities. Just so many personalities.
  • A relaxing (and oddly addicting) idle space travel experience. Crank the cosmic-y tunes and tap your ship to get up to max speed. Or just use the auto-tappers. That’s what they’re for.
  • Hundreds of stories and Missions for your crew, as they encounter black holes, super novae, hostile aliens, evil twins, space cows, hair stylists, cosmic horrors, and Larry.
  • A unique Merge PVP battle mode, with highly advanced turn-based combat. Merge ships together to form your fleet, deploy them to attack your enemies, or activate your Crew’s special abilities!
  • Basically unlimited planets and star systems to explore. Well not really - but there’s a lot. Space is big! It’s right there in the name.
  • A super chill soundtrack that will make the lightyears roll by in a contented vibe.
  • Optional in-game purchases can boost your progress (and feed our artists), but the game is completely do-able Free To Play. Just like a real post-scarcity futuristic society!

“Star We There Yet?” is a fresh and flavorful blend of different game styles, with a little something for everyone. When fully operational, it will allow players to battle across platforms and continents and probably solar systems eventually.

What are you waiting for? Play Space Game: Star We There Yet? and set a course for adventure! (And cosmic horror. As previously mentioned.)
