What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We aspire to make a legendary game and also provide an experience worth remembering by working with our community and directly involving passionate players in the game making process. Early Access is an essential way for us to balance mechanics, discover imaginative ideas, and receive critical feedback to better collaborate with our player base and ensure an outstanding experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are not sure. The medieval base/castle building, looting, farming, harvesting, raiding, weapons, and armor are all fully functional and we plan to add magical features to fight and help raid bases. Crestfallen may stay in active development for several years as the stories and lands evolve and expand over time. We want to include consistent updates to flesh out the game and stay flexible as new ideas emerge.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The core gameplay is planned to remain similar to current functionality. We want to continue to build out the most exciting parts including more weapons, harder hitting siege vehicles, larger Castle buildables, and many other features currently in the pipeline. Furthermore we plan to develop new maps, host large scale global official servers, and encourage the community to mod and collaborate on our ideas.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Nearly all planned core features of our game have been accomplished. Both single-player and multiplayer game modes are fully operational and have been rigorously tested. There is medieval weaponry to forge, armor sets to craft, and a plethora of recipes to experiment with. There are beautiful lands to explore, potions to brew, food to be cooked, bases to be built, farms to be planted, battles to be won (or lost) and savage monsters to fight.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not have any definitive plans on this topic at this time. It is likely that the price will increase during the Early Access phase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our community is primarily developing on our Discord server as the interactive function the open forum offers provides quick and clear communication. People are welcome to join and share their thoughts and suggestions in our General chat channel. New content and upcoming developments are shared regularly for open discussion. A dedicated testing team has formed and helps discover issues to present to the development team. We plan to establish a “Knights of the Round Table,” for our most involved members who strive to address the needs of the community and proactively help others in our midst.”
