For nearly seven decades, the Boston & Albany Railroad served as the eastern anchor of the legendary New York Central. Then, rapid and dramatic change came to the B&A, as first NYC merged with the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1968 to form giant 20,000-mile Penn Central, then, in 1971, Amtrak assumed operation of intercity passenger service across America.

Now, this era of seismic and extraordinary change in the railroading scene of New England is re-created on the highly acclaimed Train Simulator Classic Boston & Albany route – with High Iron Simulations’ Boston & Albany Scenario Pack 01.

Boston & Albany Scenario Pack 01 recalls in ten realistic career scenarios the B&A of the early and mid-1970s, when first- and second-generation diesels of the leviathan freight-totting Penn Central and the newly created passenger-hauling Amtrak dominated the bustling and historic New England railroad.

With Boston & Albany Scenario Pack 01, you’ll experience railroading of remarkable diversity and variety – from the fast-paced Amtrak Lake Shore Limited to “all stops” Penn Central commuter operations, from PC’s hottest Trailer Van (piggyback) trains to PC heavy manifest freights and workhorse locals and switching assignments.

Boston & Albany Scenario Pack 01 will take you over the length of the 100+ mile B&A route as masterfully created by developer G-TraX and will put your hand on the throttle of six types of first- and second generation diesel locomotive types, including the Penn Central EMD SD35, GP9, SW1200, and Alco FA, as well as Amtrak’s EMD stylish E8 and burly SDP40F.

With Boston & Albany Scenario Pack 01, you will:

• Take the throttle of veteran but elegant Amtrak Electro-Motive E8s for an end-to-end run across the Boston & Albany route amid magnificent autumn foliage with Amtrak Train 448 – the eastbound Boston section of the Lake Shore Limited.
  
• Climb aboard potent Penn Central Electro-Motive SD35 second-generation diesels to hustle a pair of PC’s hottest Trailer Van piggyback trains (St Louis to Boston TV-6 and Boston to Chicago TV-13) east and west over the bustling B&A.
  
• With classic first-generation Alco FA cab diesels as power, bring Penn Central manifest NE-1 off the Framingham Branch, make a pick-up at Framingham Yard, then head west on the B&A main line to make the climb of famed Charlton Hill.
  
• Call at Palmer on a winter afternoon with EMD GP9-powered Worcester-Springfield local freight WS-1 and perform yard switching and interchange with the Central Vermont Railway before continuing to West Springfield’s massive yard complex.
  
• Tackle the challenges of keeping a Penn Central EMD Geep-powered afternoon commuter train on time as it hustles from Boston South Station to Framingham with nine intermediate scheduled stops before tying up for the evening at Framingham Yard.
  
• Work aboard a jaunty Penn Central EMD SW1200 diesel switcher to make pickups and set outs at B&A lineside industries amid the urban sprawl of Worcester.
  
• Highball Amtrak Train 449 – the westbound Lake Shore Limited – across the B&A from Boston to Springfield on a wintry and snowy New England afternoon at the throttle of one of Amtrak’s potent but ill-stared EMD SDP40F cowl diesels.
