What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I have a lot of ideas where to take The Good Colony, but I want this to be a community-focused game where players can express their creativity and share it with others. As such, one person should not be the sole deciding factor in what players want. My plans don't really make sense without a community of players to decide where to take them. The main focus of the game is the camera recording mechanic. Currently, the game only allows a fraction of the creativity I envision, mainly because it is limited by the current gameplay. I plan to expand on what's already here--but these things just take time. You guys will play a big role in how this game turns out.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“This really depends. I want to say one year max, but I am the only person working on this game at the moment and I'm taking college classes. I spend as much time as possible to work on this game and I plan to make consistent updates with or without player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The game has a mostly linear path where players record unknown aliens and unlock new planets and items. I want the final game to allow the players to use the camera recording mechanic to express their creativity with friends and not be confined like it is now.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At the moment The Good Colony is a playable and complete experience that hasn't reached its full potential. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Your feedback will make a really big impact on this game and my decisions. I will be checking your feedback and or ideas on our Discord.”

About This Game

Welcome to the Colony. You've been assigned by the Colony to record evidence of unknown aliens with your Colony issued camera. Every day you will be given a new quota that you will need to satisfy. You will be given a certain amount of cash based off of your recordings. You can use your hard earned cash to buy helpful items from the shop located in your ship's terminal. You can buy and use things like bear traps and stun guns to set up traps for the aliens while you stealthily record them.

Taking on this difficult task alone is possible, but discouraged. Your fellow colonists can watch your back while you record.

Keep the footage even when your crew dies. Your lost footage will be recovered by the Colony. At the end of every day, you can watch your footage in real time with your crew.
