What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“SpaceSlog is a complex and ambitious project being developed by one person, it has already been in development for several years and now requires the support and feedback from the community. We do not want to develop the game in a vacuum but would rather mould the game into something our fans really want to play and feel early access is the best way to achieve this.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It's hard to specify a time but we plan to be in early access until roughly February 2026. We have a long list of features and ideas for the game, all of which take time to develop if we want to ensure a quality product.

We strongly suggest however to only purchase the game based on what is in the game now and not what is planned for the future to avoid disappointment.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have many more simulated systems and a much richer gameplay experience. The course of development does however change depending on feedback from our community. Below are a few things we plan to add to the game but are not guaranteed.

  • Random encounters with planets, space monsters and other alien life forms.
  • Send away parties to planets and derelict ships to scavenge for supplies.
  • Watch relationships grow and fall between different crew members.
  • Many types of creatures you can tame and train.
  • Heat and atmosphere sim elements.
  • Research new technologies and use them to help your crew survive and thrive.
  • Tactical combat systems between ships and on foot, including breaches and landing parties.
  • Intricate wound and illness system.
  • Hydroponics and farming.
  • A galaxy map allowing you to plan and trace your journey.
  • Different alien races to discover.

Again, these features are not guaranteed but what we would like to add in an ideal situation. Please only purchase the game based on what is in the game now and not what is planned for the future to avoid disappointment.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is currently fully playable and we do our best to ensure there are as few bugs as possible. The game does however only represent a small fraction of what we plan to achieve, which means in its current state it may be lacking in gameplay features and content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The final price is still being decided but we plan to increase the price upon exiting early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We hold various polls on our discord (https://discord.gg/cBNNfht) channel and encourage suggestions and feedback from our community there and also on our forums (https://produnogames.com/forums), all of which we take very seriously and into careful consideration. We understand we cannot make the best game possible just by ourselves, we require vital input and feedback from all of our players to help refine and direct our game to greatness.
We will also be showing development videos over on our YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkj18MICGlM2i3TP_o0338w) channel.”

About This Game

Slog through space in SpaceSlog. A difficult sci-fi spaceship sim with an emphasis on ship building, crew interaction and exploration. Inspired by games such as Rimworld, Starship Theory, Dwarf Fortress and X-COM and other media such as Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate Universe and The Expanse.

Your capital ship has been attacked by an unknown entity. Fortunately several survivors have managed to escape in a small ship. Now alone, hungry and lost in space, you must explore the cosmos and guide them to safety.

Current Features

  • Build your ship any way you choose.
  • A newly generated galaxy to explore every time you play.
  • Meet other factions, friend or foe.
  • Manage your crews moods and needs.
  • Trade with passing ships and factions.
  • Electrical power simulation. Place down cables, generators and batteries.
  • Develop your own story every time you play.
  • Extensive Mod support.
  • Plus more…

Build your ship any way you please. Whether you want to build a small but nimble ship with a small crew, or a large battleship with lots of crew, the choice is yours. Just ensure you have enough supplies to manage your crew and keep your ship functioning.
Careful consideration must be used when placing doors and your power systems in case of breaches or other hazards.

Explore a procedurally generated galaxy. Each time you play, the game's events system will generate a different galaxy for you to explore. Whichever difficulty you choose will influence how this galaxy or events are generated.

Exploration is key to survival. Stay in one place for too long or get stranded and your crew will surely die. You must keep moving and find other ships or factions to trade with in order to survive.

Crew needs and moods. The needs of your crew must be met in order to keep your ship fully functioning. An angry crew may rebel, decide not to work or give up completely. Ensure you have enough food and water to feed your crew. You must also choose your captain wisely.

Extensive mod support. All the game's data is stored in JSON files. This means it is extremely easy to change anything currently in the game and even add new ones. In the future we plan to expand on this even further.

Mod development pedigree. The author of SpaceSlog has spent the last 10 years painstakingly developing a large and popular modification for Mount&Blade Warband called A World of Ice and Fire. This is the reason for wanting extensive mod support and should hopefully give peace of mind for anyone wanting to purchase SpaceSlog, knowing the author is dedicated and willing to finish a project.
