Why Early Access?

“We know this game genre is all about player creativity and player choice, so it makes sense to integrate community feedback into our development to ensure we’re building an adaptable experience supporting different playstyles. While we have our own vision for early access, we’re excited to make a few detours to adjust for community priorities and player needs.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate 2-3 years. The major and minor features we would like to see in Early Access will realistically require a couple years to roll-out in intervals. Factoring in time to react to community feedback, the roadmap could expand to three years before we release our 1.0 and remove the early access label. As of February 2026, we are making great progress on our roadmap and feel on-track to reach our full release! Make sure to check out our roadmap on our website for more information.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are expanding the game in multiple areas during Early Access, including character customization, new enemy types, new gear, craftables, buildables, and facilities. We continue to add new quests and content that improve upon the current biomes in-game, and we will ultimately be expanding the map to include the area currently locked. As players may see on our News page, we have already added two raid experiences during early access, and the final version of the game will have an additional two raids, two new biomes, and many new items and quest objectives. The full list of features we plan to add before or at the 1.0 release can be found on our website, including an overhaul of cooking, farming, achievements, and others.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“This Early Access version features the following content which aims to provide a well-rounded experience offering many hours of replayability:

  • A major biome, present with associated enemies, resources, and recipes across two islands, plus three additional biomes that will be improved over multiple updates. The Dark Forest and the Ancient Desert have already been addressed, and the mountain biome will be improved in our next update, Hounds of Zeus, coming October 8th 2026.
  • Movement modes like Glide and Sprint, various melee weapons and bows
  • Multiple tiers of tools and structures
  • Multiple tiers of gear, including set bonuses and re-tinting options
  • A collection of six legendary weapon rewards inspired by the Greek gods
  • An inlay system to apply bonuses to unique gear
  • Most crafting facilities, although they won’t be fully upgradable until later updates.
  • Inventory system, including backpack, gear slots, equip hot bar, and chests.
  • Adjustable server/world ruleset, including toggleable drop-on-death, ability to disable durability, and adjustable health and stamina, among others.
  • An expanding Compendium that tracks new player discoveries
  • Over 30 skill perks to earn through leveling
  • Progression guideposts with minimal narrative
  • Minor quest challenges and puzzles to earn recipes & upgrades
  • Two raid experiences, both with a new temple zone and three unique bosses to fight

By December 2024, we had over 4 quality of life patches which brought new decor, creative mode, town centers, skeletons, maces, and many other improvements, and in June 2025, we released our first major update, "Sisters of the Deep," which began our effort to overhaul the shrine objectives with raids, boss fights, and new legendary rewards.

In December 2025, we released our second major update "Desert Reign" which added character creator and the female player model, plus new items and new content in the Ancient Desert and the Temple of Poseidon.

Our third major update Hounds of Zeus is planned for October 8th, 2026, with our 1.0 Release planned to follow in 2027 with a possible holiday items patch in-between.

Please note, while we are striving to prevent resetting player progress at update releases, we cannot guarantee at this time that a future major update during Early Access will not reset your save file or character progress. We would only reset saves for fundamental, major update changes which we believe outweigh the inconvenience. We are not anticipating a restart for the "Desert Reign" update at this time, but we will provide advance warning should another restart be deemed necessary.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The initial entry price aims to reward early-adopters for taking a risk with our game before it is finished. As we roll-out updates, please anticipate scaled pricing. Of course, we’re also committed to notifying our community and backers in advance of changes to give everyone time to consider the present price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our goal is to balance an integration of community feedback and a commitment to our game vision. As we continue to work towards our final release, we will actively be seeking feedback on the game mechanics and whether they provide the intended value to our players. OUR EARLY ACCESS ROADMAP

DESERT REIGN

December 2025, we released Dawn of Defiance "Desert Reign," the second of our major updates outlined on our Early Access Roadmap. Desert Reign brought the first iteration of character creator, including the female player model, plus an expansion of the Ancient Desert and a new raid experience in the Temple of Poseidon. In addition, we released other new features, from two new facilities and three new legendary weapons, to repeatable quests and more! SISTERS OF THE DEEP

The first major update in our Early Access Roadmap went live in June 2025! "Sisters of the Deep" brought new enemies, new weapons, and new challenges and objectives across the Dark Forest, culminating with the game's first raid experience in the Temple of Athena! Take on the Gorgon Sisters to earn powerful weapons from the Gods that must be reforged at the new facility: Hephaestus Forge!

HOUNDS OF ZEUS

Coming October 8, 2026

After having prioritized the first few months of Early Access to making quality of life improvements and solidifying the foundation of our game, and now with two major updates under our belt and a new publishing partner, we're excited to continue progressing towards our 1.0 Release with our next update Hounds of Zeus, releasing Oct 8th. This next update will bring an overhaul to the mountain biome, a brand new raid on Zeus' Temple, and new gear and facilities, including the cooking pot and farming plots! Our estimated 1.0 release is now slated for 2027!

We weighed feedback from our players with our internal goals, and we've outlined the features we plan to implement into the game before the final release. You can read that list and more information at the Dawn of Defiance website! Look for the link in the right panel.

About This Game

You are a fallen Spartan, cast into the Crossroads - the liminal realm between the mortal world and the Underworld. Denied the warrior's afterlife you were promised, you must fight your way from spurned mortal to a legend that rivals the gods themselves.

In this Greek mythology-inspired survival adventure explore a vast, beautiful and treacherous continent. Build an idyllic Greek palace, forge powerful gear and descend into the temples of the Olympians to strip them of their most powerful artifacts.

FORGE YOUR ODYSSEY

The Crossroads sits at the edge of the Underworld - a vast, untamed continent of ancient ruins and treacherous wilds. Hunt, gather and craft from the land to grow in strength. Conquer the lands and build a home worthy of legend. From humble shelters and sprawling temple complexes, to grand monuments that attest your power, the world is yours to claim and grace in your image.

DEFY THE GODS

Raid the temples of the gods, defeat the mythical bosses that stand in your path, and break the seals of Olympus. Feast on the spoils of the land, forge armor and weapons of legend, and seize the gods' most powerful weapons to cut, bash, or spear your way through the mystery of the abandoned Crossroads.

BAND TOGETHER

Dawn of Defiance is fully playable solo offline or in co-op, with support up to 4 players. Venture into the Crossroads with your allies to divide and conquer the land together, sharing quest rewards amongst players. Customize your character to create a legend that is truly your own, while custom server settings shape the experience to your design and intensity. 

Please note: We utilize Epic Online Services for our backend to enable cross-play compatibility for those that want to play with friends regardless of where they purchased the game. This requires an installation of an EOS dependency to allow the game to communicate with backend systems. You do not need to install Epic Games Store, nor have an Epic account to play our game. If you are playing on Steam, the only data that this EOS dependency pulls from you is publicly available information related to your steam account.
