Why Early Access?

“We have poured everything we have into Lost In The Open over the past four years, and we’re finally ready to share it. Early Access gives us the opportunity to balance and refine the game while we develop the two remaining Acts. Community feedback will play a crucial role.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It depends on the feedback we receive, but we are aiming for around 9-12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our primary development goals are clear: complete Act 2: The Barren Mountains and Act 3: The Tainted Swamplands.

Beyond that, we also plan several major improvements. For example, we’ve already outlined a Utility-Based AI system that we aim to implement, and we intend to add the Repentance Path system. Alongside these larger features, we’ll continue improving, balancing, and polishing the game throughout Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is divided up into three Acts. The current version features the fully playable Act 1.

Act 1 features 5 factions with 20 unit types (most are recruitable), 3 zones, 3 biomes, a wide variety of terrains, 6 boss encounters, and hundreds of unique events to discover.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Likely. We are planning to add major content updates to the game. That being said, we haven't made any final decisions yet.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We greatly value feedback from anyone who plays the game. We are active in our Discord server. Our ambition is to make this game into one of the most satisfying and deep tactical experiences available in modern indie TRPGs. Without tons of feedback, that will not be possible.”

About This Game

A demanding roguelike tactical RPG, where every fight and decision revolves around YOU.

You are King Nrvesk, despot of Ruedome. Your reign was bloody, oppressive, and unjust, but was brought to an end by your neighbouring ruler, Boros II of Stratha. Under the pretence of a diplomatic meeting, an attempt on your life was made as you sat across a man you once considered an ally. Narrowly, you escaped.

Nrvesk is your company’s most powerful asset, but also your greatest vulnerability. His death in battle means the end.

Lost In The Open is designed to be a challenging experience. You will face an ever-growing roster of deadly, unique enemies. They will pull your allies out of position, lure you into traps, and coordinate to flank you. Learn their weaknesses, fight strategically, and protect your King.

A powerful Strathaian vanguard follows you tirelessly. You must traverse the dangerous terrain between Stratha and Ruedome and encounter hundreds of difficult decisions. Do you take the well-forested path where you risk becoming beasts’ prey, or the high ground, where you are exposed and easily tracked by man? Do you pay a hefty toll to avoid a fight with bandits?

You will not be alone in your adversity. Manage a diverse roster of recruits. Train them to become specialists, or jacks-of-all-trades. Create quick-bladed bloodletters, mighty human shields, patient bowmen. Equip them with strange trinkets, bolster their weapons and armour with unique attachments. Nrvesk’s life lay in his companions’ hands; shape them to your advantage.

Defeating enemies, aiding strangers, and trading with merchants are your means of sustaining yourself on this journey. Balance your resources, between unlocking new traits and abilities, upgrading your equipment, and sustaining your companions.
