Why Early Access?

“Grubwerk is a solo project with a lot of interconnected systems: factory automation, contracts, worker management, and co-op. Early Access lets me release a stable core first — production lines, machines, and the base loop — while adding more content, refinements, and tweaks over time.

It’s about letting the game grow naturally. Players can jump in, experiment with the systems, and see the factory expand while I polish and expand features. Early Access for Grubwerk the most efficient way for me build a fully realized, chaotic industrial playground that you can experience either alone or with your friends.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I plan for Grubwerk to be in Early Access till 2027, targeting a full release in late February to early spring. This period will let me polish core systems, add additional content, and refine the factory loop based on player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is intended to expand the factory systems, including multiple plots of land along with new ways to transport supplies. Additional machinery and production options will be introduced to give players more ways to engage with their factories.
A conflict system where supplying different countries can influence territory and provide faction-specific rewards.
Weather and seasons to affect production and offer seasonal items and effects that let players customize both their character and their factories.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Grubwerk’s development foundation is almost complete but still a work in progress and subject to change. Players can expect a few of the core game loop in place, Mechanics such as, Building and customizing the parts of your factory and manufacturing of munitions and driving them into the town to local NPC Traders in the town of Tielburg. As well as the Officers trading network providing temporarily scripted but randomized contract orders.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The full game price may be raised slightly after early access. Im unsure yet as I might proceed with adding systems and gameplay mechanics that were previously cut for the games core loop to be done.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through Discord and Reddit fourms as well as monthly updates where the community can participate in polls with the current state of the game, as well as weighing in ideas for the next thing that should be added or would like to see changed.”
