What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows me to release Workplace Malice in chapters without having to rush the development process. It gives players the chance to experience the story as it unfolds and provide valuable feedback on combat, gameplay balance, and overall engagement.

I’ve been developing this game for over three years, and Early Access ensures that I can continue improving it with the community’s input while maintaining a high level of polish and narrative quality. My goal is to see the project through to completion and deliver a finished version that fully realizes my vision.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game is expected to remain in Early Access until around October 2026. I plan to release new chapters every 2–3 months after the initial launch, allowing players to experience the story and gameplay as they evolve.
These dates are estimates and may shift depending on feedback and development progress, as my priority is ensuring each update meets a high standard of quality.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will include all five main chapters and a bonus side story, featuring the complete narrative, finalized gameplay systems, and fully polished combat mechanics.

During Early Access, I plan to gather player feedback on combat balance, quality-of-life improvements, and bug reports to refine the overall experience.

The initial Early Access release will include Chapter 0 and Chapter 1, along with a replayable non-story mode for additional gameplay. The story content in this version will last roughly 2–3 hours, with each major update adding a new chapter of similar length until the full game is complete.”

About This Game

When his abusive CEO returns from the dead as something inhuman and unleashes carnage in the office, a burned-out sales rep must survive the night, uncover the truth, and decide how much of his humanity he’s willing to lose.

Workplace Malice is a narrative-driven survival horror set inside the Blue Skyline Office Complex, a towering hub that houses multiple businesses. With its striking HD-2D style, you’ll scavenge resources, solve puzzles, and fight to endure a workplace overrun by inhuman threats. Every choice shifts your morality, shaping the story and unlocking multiple endings. Workplace Malice is a modern, character-driven horror experience that draws from the horrors of everyday life, blending psychological tension with the dread of surviving where you once worked.

Theodore “Theo” Fox returns to his job one week after the mysterious death of his abusive boss, James Krysler. The Blue Skyline Office Complex's exits are suddenly locked, and horror begins when Krysler’s corpse returns, walking the halls. Theo soon realizes the building hides far more than law firms and insurance offices, as its upper floors conceal secrets darker than he could have ever imagined.

Grounded office workers collide with mysterious, otherworldly forces in a tightly woven, character-driven story.

Built as a solo passion project, Workplace Malice fuses exploration, puzzle-solving, and tense combat encounters inspired by classic survival horror. Ammunition and supplies are scarce, forcing you to choose carefully between fighting or hiding from relentless stalker-type enemies that patrol the halls. Explore, backtrack, and unlock new routes with keys, codes, and environmental puzzles while managing limited ammo and healing items, as branching dialogue choices and a morality system shape the narrative and lead to multiple endings.

2D pixel art characters appear in richly lit, cinematic 3D environments that make ordinary office spaces feel both unnerving and visually pleasing. Visually, the game embraces a striking HD-2D presentation, with sprite-animated characters layered into tactile office environments, where copy machines, glass meeting rooms, and carpeted hallways transform into uncanny backdrops for a story that blends modern realism with unsettling nostalgia.

Engage in tense but rewarding encounters, scavenge for currency, and interact with mysterious merchants who offer supplies at a price.

Face grotesque monsters and cult figures in battles with multiple phases and escalating spectacle.

Your dialogue choices and morality system shape how Theo’s story unfolds across branching paths.
