"We plan to remain in Early Access for approximately 8-10 months. The length of the Early Access stage will be driven by the feedback and response of the community."

"The full version is meant to be more balanced, more polished and feature some additional systems that result from our iterations during Early Access. We already have plans to introduce some more mining tools along with some new contract types and we are looking forward to hearing the community's thoughts on what could make the game even greater in its full release."

"We initially had planned for the game to be playable from start to finish but over the course of playtesting have expanded the scope and now this Early Access release will contain only the first 3 regions with the first 12 asteroid classes along with plenty of contracts, tools, equipment and upgrades for players to get into. In total we have 7 regions planned and will be opening up the game to new regions with each content update as we go.

This means that the game is currently not playable through to the end as was previously stated in the answer to this question.
