What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are launching EvilTrap in Early Access because Psychological / Survival Horror fundamentally depends on atmosphere, pacing, and player tension. We need the community's engagement to achieve a truly terrifying and balanced experience.

Early Access will allow us to:

Refine the Core AI: Stress-test and fine-tune the complex behavioral patterns of our central threat to ensure it delivers unpredictable and meaningful encounters.

Balance Survival Resources: Calibrate the scarcity and utility of crucial items (lantern fuel, traps, medical supplies) based on real player data, perfecting the delicate balance of desperation.

Validate the Atmosphere: Gather direct feedback on the lighting, sound design, and mood to ensure the psychological terror is maximally effective before the full narrative release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our plan is to leave Early Access once the game is fully developed and approved by our community. We are committed to regular updates and maintaining open communication with players to create the best possible experience together

Our current goal is to ensure all core AI and survival systems are robust before expanding the full story. We are targeting the final 1.0 release between July and October of 2026”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version (1.0) will be a significantly expanded and finalized experience compared to the Early Access release:

Narrative & Scope: The EA version focuses on the First Act of the story. The full version will contain 3 to 5 complete narrative Acts, revealing the full lore, locations, and the ultimate climax of the story.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is a polished, highly-optimized build that offers a complete vertical slice of the game's core loop.

Players will be able to experience:

The Opening Route: A focused, linear section of the open world, fully textured and detailed.

Core Systems: The fully functional Survival Inventory, Flashlight/Fuel management, Environmental Puzzles, and the initial iteration of the Complex AI behavior system.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price of EvilTrap during the Early Access period will be set at a lower price point than the final release.

This price strategy is intended to thank our early adopters and core community members for their invaluable support and feedback. The price will be increased upon the launch of the 1.0 final version to reflect the completed scope and content”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community involvement is critical, especially for a game that relies on atmospheric tension and complex AI unpredictability. We plan to involve the community through:

Testing and Feedback: We will specifically ask players to report on the creature's behavior, pathing, and encounter effectiveness to ensure the AI is truly terrifying and unpredictable.

Survival Balancing: We will hold focused testing on resource consumption (fuel, medical supplies) to find the perfect level of punishing scarcity.

Dedicated Channels: Utilizing a dedicated Discord server and the Steam community forums for structured bug reports, mood feedback, and discussions about the narrative and lore.”

About This Game

EvilTrap

Trapped in a cursed village under a night that never ends, you soon realize there is no true refuge.
The forest presses against the streets, its shadows filled with whispers and scratching claws. Demons roam freely, slipping between broken houses and decaying barns, testing every door and window, waiting for the moment you falter. If you’re caught outside, they will drag you into the dark.

You must explore the village and the forest during this endless night to gather supplies, search for clues, and hunt for the fleeting safety of hidden shelters. But every time you reach the outskirts, an unseen force pushes you back, something wants you trapped here forever.

Even inside, the feeling of safety is fragile. Footsteps echo across abandoned rooms. Knocks strike against the walls. A presence peers through cracks and broken shutters. Hide in closets, cellars, or corners swallowed by shadow, and pray the thing outside passes by. One demon, more persistent than the rest, always return, learning your patterns, testing your hiding places, waiting for a single mistake.

EvilTrap delivers an atmospheric psychological horror where the night never ends, the village itself feels alive, and escape is nothing more than a cruel illusion.
