游戏中讲述了一位从小在茅山派学道多年的弟子，听闻遥远村落中出现狐妖残害百姓的诡异事件，决心离开道观，入世调查，为百姓排忧解难。调查途中，他遇到了入世修行多年的师门前辈林九叔，在他的指点下巧妙应对各种危机。鬼怪猖狂，真相扑朔迷离，主角抽丝剥茧，不曾想，千年狐妖竟是……

主角虽是初出道观，却意志坚定、心怀天下，在经历了诸多可怕的事件后，仍心系百姓，不忘初衷。赶尸、冥婚、招魂、蛊毒、碟仙……鬼怪可怖，人心更甚。在入世目睹了种种人间悲剧后，主角决心剿灭狐妖、铲除鬼怪，破除陋习，在风云动荡的乱世中，尽全力保护百姓安全。
