Leaving Early Access: Mar 16, 2026

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“For the development of Dragonkin: The Banished, we wanted to get our community involved and collect as much feedback from players as possible. We are eager to consider players' suggestions and implement them in the game to improve it. Having an Early Access phase is the best way to involve the community in the game and its development. We can't wait for the community to play Dragonkin: The Banished and for players to help us create an original and exciting game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We intend to stay in Early Access for 7 to 10 months. This timeframe is what we have planned at the moment, but it might change based on player feedback and changes we need to make to the game. Our ultimate goal is to leave Early Access when the game is ready.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add additional content with each update. We also want to use your feedback to make changes and improve the game. However, it's important to note that the current Early Access version already contains a significant amount of high-quality content for players. The major game mechanics are already implemented as well as some end-game content. During Early Access, we want to make lots of modifications, including balancing, optimization and bug fixes. We also plan to add a new character, new hunts for the main campaign, end-game modes, and even more things to do in the town.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As mentioned above, the Early Access game has a lot of content, including multiple heroes, the game's first hunt, end-game content, and major gameplay elements – like the Ancestral Grid and evolving town – which make Dragonkin: The Banished a unique experience. The major game mechanics have already been implemented for all players. Please refer to the "About this game" section to learn more about all the content available when Early Access launches.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, there will be a difference in price between the version launched in Early Access on 6 March 2025 and the final version.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will play a major role in Dragonkin: The Banished. Players will be involved in the game's development, and we will be listening to feedback on social media, on the game's official Discord and on the Steam forums. We are looking forward to receiving and considering all feedback so we can constantly improve and refine the game.”

Roadmap

About This Game

In Dragonkin: The Banished, immerse yourself in a world corrupted by dragon blood, where evil creatures emerge from the bowels of the earth. Play as one of the legendary hero classes, driven by a singular mission: to hunt down and annihilate the dragon creatures. Each battle brings you closer to your goal of finding and eliminating the Dragon Lords.

Experience the Dragonkin adventure with your friends in online co-op mode for up to 4 players. From your arrival in the City of Montescail to the endgame activities, the entire Dragonkin adventure can be played cooperatively. Between missions, the City of Montescail serves as your hub where you can meet other players. Each player has a role to play in improving the city.

Each hero has developed their own abilities and fighting techniques for facing the dragons. As you progress, your character, gear, Wyrmling and Ancestral Grid evolve.
The Tracker: As the best hunter in her clan, she uses her prey to develop her skills and improve her arsenal. Any monsters that escape her arrows, blades or traps will succumb to the poisons she concocts.

The Barbarian: Now that he is dragon-blooded, half-man, half-monster, his supernatural strength and ice powers, combined with his legendary rage, allow him to defeat the toughest enemies.

The Oracle: Transformed by the blood of the blue dragon, she uses her electric dragon powers precisely, and can amplify them with the help of her visions.

The Knight: Trained in combat, he wields the fire lance with unmatched skill. His unwavering faith in the Eternal and his unfailing determination make him impervious to dragon corruption. He stands as the light that will banish the darkness!

Discover the Ancestral Grid of skills, a brand new mechanism for transforming your character into a legendary fighter with unique powers. Acquire skills as loot from battles, and strategically place them in the grid alongside numerous modifiers. Optimize each slot to increase your power. Each hero has their own grid, offering a phenomenal number of skill and modifier combinations.

Fight the dragon creatures and journey across the world of Dragonkin.
There are jungles, ancient islands, toxic swamps, plains, glaciers, arid volcanoes and more, waiting to be explored. Your quest will reveal the riches of this world, where each region has its own culture and history. You will also encounter unique monsters, each with distinct abilities and elements (Ice, Poison, Fire, Electricity) and resources which can upgrade your hero.

Nestled in the heart of the mountains, sheltered from dragons, lies a great city: the last bastion of humanity. This city grows and evolves according to your decisions and discoveries. As you progress, you can choose priorities for its development. Upgrade your buildings, welcome new residents, and discover additional equipment and services that will help you transform this refuge into a true haven for humanity.

Dragonkin: The Banished 1.0 is fast approaching, along with the end of Early Access. When 1.0 is launched, you will get the complete story, a new level system starting at level 50, as well as a revamped Hunting Board.
