What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Polyion has grown and changed as a game over the last 9 months, and I now feel ready to put the game out there. But the game needs more time so I can work on content and push it towards the desired vision. At its core Polyion provides a sandbox type experience, but due to time limitations I haven't been able to put everything into the game that I planned/wanted to.

I want the time to be able to publicly work on and provide the game to players, while still working on and updating the game. This is why I chose to launch Polyion into Early Access and why I feel like it will benefit the game in the long run.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“There is quite a bit to be done, but I plan to keep Polyion in Early Access for about 6 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Polyion will launch mainly as a sandbox world-building game, providing both survival and creative modes for you to play around with.

The PLANNED goal over the course of early access and full release is to add more worlds, more tiles, more modes, more customization (such as creating your own tiles) and a more direct focus on giving the players a sandbox to do whatever they want. (With the tools provided of course)”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Please refer to the "About This" section as the details regarding the game and its features are stated there. But to summarise here, right now Polyion is a sandbox world-builder that allows you to play strategically in survival mode or creatively in creative mode in a few different world types.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase slightly on full release, but I don't expect it to be that much of an increase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to provide consistent social media and steam community posts, as well as polls for new game content as I work through the early access versions.”

About This Game

Polyion is a casual world building game. The only catch is that your world has a lifetime and it's your job to place tiles strategically to fill up the reset square and reset the timer to keep your world alive.

World Building

You're provided with random tiles which you can place anywhere. These tiles have stats that change how the reset square is affected, place the tiles in the best and most optimal position and you might just be able to keep your world alive.

The Timers

The timer on the bottom right of your screen (white square) is your world health and it is your priority to keep resetting it as often as you can to make sure your world continues to survive, which is done by filling up the reset gauge (golden square). Keep that up and your world will continue to survive, but fail and your world will eventually fall.

World Types and Modes

As of right now there are three different world types to choose from, each world has its own unique tiles and variables.

Survival mode puts you up against a timer, which counts down until it hits zero... unless you manage to fill your reset bar and reset the timer to keep your world alive. There is also a creative mode which allows you to build your world with all the tiles in the game, this can be used as a way to plan out worlds or just as a way to have fun and to see what's in the game!
