ScreenPlay

ScreenPlay is a cinema-themed comedy CCG with simultaneous and strategic gameplay. Enter a hyper-exaggerated movie-making universe and compete against other filmmakers in creating fictional movies on the fly.

Simultaneous Turns

No more waiting for your opponent to think through their turn. You didn’t get that high-speed broadband connection to just wait on some dummy online!

In Screenplay, each player frames their scenes (their turns) in advance and chooses what they want to happen in each one. Then filming begins, and all of your plans have to go against what your opponent had in store for you. Choose wisely which cards to play and when to play them, whether you want your characters to attack each other, dodge, or act out performances.

Inspired by VS fighting game mechanics, ScreenPlay brings an original spin to traditional CCG gameplay. Predict your opponent’s moves and outmaneuver them in the cutthroat movie-making business. Your success in this fictional movie world relies on your skills as a director, so no pressure!

Each Game a Story

The game revolves around your lead characters and furthering their character arcs throughout the game. Leads come from all kinds of movie genres and have unique ways of furthering their story arc which allows for different gameplay styles. Most also have unique special abilities in form of cards attached to them called “lead tropes”.

Pick a combination of three leads and build a 30-card deck to support them. Throughout the game you will gain Narrative Points that further your leads' story arcs. To win, you need to complete 2 of your lead character’s story arcs. Will you play as Richard Spade, the washed-up detective and rely on better information to out-predict your opponent with noir tropes? Or will you play as Illuminati Lizard and revel in the death of your characters? Will you play as Maximus and seek revenge on those who wronged you? Or play as Roast Comic Frog and mock your opponent with your unpredictable comedic timing?

The possibilities are endless... Well, numerous possibilities but mathematically limited! Seriously, you can’t literally have infinite possibilities. It's just a video game!

Single-Player

After learning how to play in the tutorial you will get a deck to start building your collection. Complete daily and weekly challenges, defeat boss bots in a variety of game modes introduced every [insert time frame here] to unlock more cards to play with and other prizes! Or just ignore the gameplay and just procedurally generate hilarious movie posters to share them on social media.

Multi-Player

Challenge other players across the world in various modes of gameplay. Increase your rating by playing in the ladder against players of your strength to become the very best. Create comedy-horror movies with an action-adventure plotline starring sci-fi and romantic roles and subvert even your own expectations!

Tournaments are planned.

Recipes Galore!

All the cards in the game are available by opening booster packs or playing through the various missions and single-player content. The most sought-after cards are also available through the recipe system, which allows you to recycle unwanted duplicates of cards you own in exchange for the ones you want.

Of course, if you are born with a golden spoon who can’t be bothered with this sort of peasant work, be our guest, bypass this entire process and buy the cards you need outright, we’re not gonna stop you.

Every three months, new card expansions are added to the game, keeping the metagame fresh and unsolved. Every expansion unleashes new movies, new leads, new deck-building strategies, and new game modes. Join us for a long engaging experience... Or not.
