Why Early Access?

“Escape the Mad Empire is a game made to be challenged and overcome by the players who create imaginative and “broken” builds and strategies. We want to involve our community in the final stretch of development to help us achieve that experience, balance, and polish gameplay and various design ideas.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We intend to stay in Early Access for about one year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The 1.0 version of Escape the Mad Empire will include more complexity, depth, and content.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The bulk of the core gameplay experience is already in place for Early Access. That is the tutorial, mission structure, base building, tactical combat, etc. with at least 40 hours of gameplay in place already.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As Escape the Mad Empire grows and we introduce more content, we intend to increase the price to better reflect the scope of the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“This is the main reason why we're going through an EA phase. We'll interact with the players mostly on Steam community forums and Discord. We will regularly review and collect players' ideas and feedback about game mechanics, balancing, story, and gameplay structure, and find good ways to apply that to our game’s development.”

About This Game


Master the full potential of a varied party of heroes, composed of multiple classes and talents. Apply a multitude of skills and learn how to combine them to edge out an advantage against overwhelming odds and elevate your strategy with every conquered challenge.



Leverage the Real-Time Pause system to coordinate, combine, and maximize your party’s potential to unleash tactical devastation on your enemies. Counter seemingly unwinnable life-and-death scenarios by using your wits to execute complex strategies in a heartbeat.



…and ice, and oil, and fire, and poison. But no hazard can’t be used to your advantage. Utilize your party’s skills, items, and spells to turn the environment into a weapon against your enemies. Destroy explosive barrels, freeze, poison and burn your foes with cunning precision.



In its madness, the Empire used crystals to create absurd and cursed items. These artifacts imbue your party with additional strength and prowess while increasing the wielder’s Instability. Don’t let it fester and grow, or you could lose that character forever.



Risk and reward are a core part of success when you try to Escape the Mad Empire. The choices you make as you explore, battle, and manage your adventuring party can be the difference between victory and defeat. Will you risk life and limb for the smallest of victories?
