Why Early Access?

“For a large system-driven game like Lightyear Frontier community involvement is a must, and we want to get our game into the hands of our players as early as possible. While we have a long-term plan for the game, community feedback will help us prioritize and iterate on the game’s features until the gameplay is just right.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our current plan is to spend about a year and a half in Early Access, but we also embrace the fact that plans can and will change the moment we start getting feedback. Our primary goal is to keep the updates coming at a steady pace and reach full release once our players agree the game is ready.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version represents only a portion of the full game. The full game will feature several new environments, plants, resources, animals, and hazards, as well as several new upgrade tiers, modules, and tools for the mech. The game’s story will also expand during Early Access, with only the beginning of the first act available initially. Furthermore, additional neighbors and quests will be added over the course of Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is currently in the internal Alpha stage, we will update this entry with a more detailed description as we get closer to the Early Access release.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As the game will more than double in content over the course of Early Access, the full release will come with an increase in price. However, we will clearly communicate the specifics of the price change well ahead of release to give players the opportunity to purchase before it happens.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our main form of communication will be via our Discord and we will collect feedback from our players via the in-game feedback tool. Players are able to discuss and vote on features in a dedicated Discord channel to send them directly into our project management system.
We will post regular updates on our website where we will also keep an updated roadmap.”
