What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are a two person game making team. We are choosing to launch RC Rush in Early Access because this is such a complicated project for us to undertake that we need the help of the community to know if we're hitting the right marks with it - our focus has been 100% on building a cool racing game, but now we need to see what other people think and how we can try to make it even better.

We play the game differently to you, we view it differently and we all like different things. By opening up the forum to the community to hear other voices, we hope to give everyone a fantastic RC arcade racing game with balanced A.I. and to deliver on many of the things people like most about this kind of experience.

The game was developed initially as a VR game, but now has non-VR support. The non-VR support may grow and evolve just as much as the VR version along the way, so getting feedback on both versions is going to be super helpful for keeping things on track.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate the game being in Early Access for around 6 months to a year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Aside from being much more polished than it is right now, we hope to develop several new tracks, to add some more vehicles to unlock, extra career events and additional game modes such as local multiplayer.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is in a playable state, with most of the tracks already playable. Many of them will be lacking polish, with some anticipated issues such as missing colliders or rendering glitches. The career mode is functional, but the exact order and number of career events will change throughout Early Access. Quick play racing is in (where you can pick any unlocked track and car and play for fun) but it lacks configuration options such as setting the number of laps, game modes and so on.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will raise after early access, as we add new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're interested in all feedback from the community - you can send this to us via email or tell us about it on the Steam forums.

One of the most important things we want to do is balance the game in a way that will please as many people as possible, so we are very interested in how you find the difficulty level of the game. There are three difficulty modes and driving aids, but we need to make sure that the easy modes are easy enough and the hard mode is tough enough - but not impossible. The AI opponents are going to play a huge part in this. Feedback from the community will be vital in finding the right balance. On top of all that, we want to know which tracks are the most popular so we can figure out what types of content people want to see in the future.

What do you think of the interface? Can you read everything OK? Does it look good, or does it detract from the themes of the game? Let us know!

For players with VR headsets, we want to know how it feels to be standing in each world and what we can do to make it feel even more immersive. As we support both VR and non-VR modes, it will be a massive help to have feedback and testing on both modes. We want to hear what you think!”
