Why Early Access?

“I wanted to get the game into the hands of players midway through development in order to make sure we make the best game possible. Players to be able to have some give feedback on what works and what doesn't. Throw their ideas into the ring if they have any. Even help keep the motivation on a steady track. As the sole developer, all I have is myself as a sounding board. I have had for many years wanted to create this type of game and now is the best time to do so in my life.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current plan is to release the game in 2023/ early 2024 however this may change depending on features added and how the game will progress through early access. I am the sole developer.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“With early access we start with the basics and the full version will be defiantly different. It will be polished, tweaked, etc. I plan to add a lot more content to the game. This includes more equipment, maps, entities, and any other content we get suggested from community feedback. I want you to be able to hunt/investigate how you want to and not pigeon-holed into "best equipment". There are some things I have swimming in my head that I would love to do potentially but I need to research it more.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The basics of the game are implemented but as of yet not really polished. Tweaking of systems will be happening. The A.I. isn't up to par with how it will be in the end. With the basics of the system nearly in place, there is an emphasis on making it "feel" spooky and scary.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will not change during early access however we plan to raise the price upon release to reflect the state of the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will be involved in every step of development and can provide us feedback and suggestions in the discord here.

As the newest initiate of The Umbral Network, you'll investigate paranormal disturbances, identify supernatural entities, master forbidden occult knowledge, and choose whether each creature should be saved, contained, or banished forever.
