What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Soran is not yet finished, but the first level of the Campaign, and the Multiplayer with eight arenas and twelve special guns are in great shape for beta testing.

As a full game, I'm planning for Soran to have 9 campaign levels, at least 9 multiplayer arenas, and a sandbox with about 20 special guns. I've written the story, some dialogue, and began to level design and model more levels and arenas. I am a solo developer, and my QA team is a few good long time friends that I'm just always hitting up to test. With the support of the Steam community, I'll be able to refine the core systems I've already built, so that they can function their best in the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I am committed to finishing Soran sooner or later. The speed at which that will happen is dependent on community support. Should no one play or support the project, I would estimate that I can finish development in two years (May 2023). With more tester support that time could be cut in half to May 2022.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The early access version includes one level of the Campaign, which I am referring to as the "Demo", and eight multiplayer maps to play 1v1's on for kills.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The first level of the Campaign and multiplayer 1v1's are both in a functional, playable state. Bugs exist, but are very rarely if ever game breaking.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to release the multiplayer as a free to play game, and then depending on interest, funding, and support, I'll finish the single player and release it for about $20. In the full release (and maybe later in early access) I'll also be adding a battle pass system.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I look forward to iterating on both the Campaign and Multiplayer with the help support of the community. I've learned in my time as a solo developer, that solo developers are not usually the best testers, so I hope to reach a variety of players who can help make Soran the best it can be.

When the multiplayer is capable, I also plan to host and fund 1v1 tournaments to support development, develop a competitive meta, and build an engaged community.

About This Game

Soran is an arena shooter/RPG being developed, produced, and scored by me, Joseph Keenan. Use classic shooter weapons like the Sniper or Doob Tube, along side new and unique guns like the Defenestrator to finesse your way to victory. When you aren't competing, you can explore the world of Four Shores discovering collectables, making friends or grinding your stats for the next battle. Also there is a flying dog named Friend.
